The support member includes a plurality of support plates, a plurality of groove-defining U-shaped segments, and first and second sidewalls. Each of the support plates extends in a first direction. Adjacent ones of the support plates are spaced apart from each other in a second direction transverse to the first direction. Each of the U-shaped segments interconnects a corresponding adjacent pair of the support plates. Each of the mounting members is coupled to a respective one of the first and second sidewalls. The rollers flank the support member in the second direction. The OPC belt is trained on an assembly of the support member and the rollers, and is driven by the rollers to move on the support plates.

When the first cover portion and second cover portion are lifted, the first locating device will produce an interference action to position the first cover portion at a desired opening angle, and the second locating device also will produce an interference action to position the second cover portion at a desired opening angle.

    Abstract: A paper feeding apparatus with a paper size determining means includes a paper tray, paper guide, a belt, a roller set, a sensing mechanism and a control unit. The paper tray has a front surface for supporting paper and a rear surface. The paper guide is movably disposed on the paper tray and for abutting against an edge of the paper in the paper tray. The roller set is rotatably disposed on the rear surface. The belt, connected to the paper guide and wound around the roller set, synchronously moves the paper guide and rotates the roller set. The sensing mechanism disposed on the rear surface senses a to-be-sensed component disposed on the belt or the roller set and thus outputs a sensing signal. The control unit receives the sensing signal and thus determines size of the paper.

Thus, the transparent platen is fixed in place by the supporting parts and the top portion of the image scanning device.

    Abstract: A scanner with a controller for controlling movement of a scanning module during scanner maintenance is provided. The scanner includes a housing, a transparent platform, and a scanning module installed inside the housing for scanning a document. The scanning module can move from a home position to a position corresponding to the document. The scanner also includes a driving device for driving the scanning module and for driving the scanning module back to the home position after the scanning module has scanned the document, and a controller for controlling the driving device. When the scanning module is at the home position, the controller can cause the driving device to drive the scanning module to a maintenance position and stop the scanning module at the maintenance position.
