  • Patent number: 7843014
Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, a high withstand voltage transistor is disclosed having small sizes including an element isolating region. The semiconductor device is provided with the element isolating region formed on a semiconductor substrate; an active region demarcated by the element isolating region; a gate electrode formed on the semiconductor substrate in the active region by having a gate insulating film in between; a channel region arranged in the semiconductor substrate under the gate electrode; a source region and a drain region positioned on the both sides of the gate electrode; and a drift region positioned between one of or both of the source region and the drain region and the channel region. One of or both of the source region and the drain region are at least partially positioned on the element isolating region, and are connected with the channel region through the drift region.

  • Patent number: 6431554
Abstract: A metal gasket is disclosed in which a shim laid on a bead plate around bore apertures in the bead plate is varied in radial width along the peripheries of the bore apertures to compensate for sealing stress circumferentially of the bore apertures. The metal gasket is composed of a bead plate with beads around its bore apertures and a shim including annular areas defining bore apertures and bridges connecting together any two adjoining annular areas. The shim around the bore apertures has a radial width at the bridges, which is substantially equal with a width across a web defined between any adjoining cylinder bores formed in mating surfaces of the cylinder block and cylinder head. Moreover, the shim at areas other than the bridges is varied continuously in its radial width in a range of from a flat area around the bore apertures to an area corresponding to the bead on the bead plate.

  • Patent number: 6206381
Abstract: A metal gasket is disclosed in which a sealing stress exerted on a deck-surface from any one of confronting bead plates is dispersed slantwise along the direction leaving its associated cylinder bore aperture so that the cylinder bores are protected from deformation owing to the high sealing stress occurring in the open-end portions of the cylinder bores. The bead plates have sealing beads confronting flanges of an first intermediate plates at their borderlines smaller radially of their associated cylinder bore apertures while confronting the first intermediate plate, less in thickness than the flanges, at their borderlines larger radially of their associated apertures. The sealing stress on the deck-surfaces of the cylinder block and cylinder liner due to deformation of the beads may be dispersed uniformly over the flanges to thereby reduce the influence of the sealing stress on the liner section of the cylinder liner.

  • Patent number: 5586776
Abstract: A metal gasket for a cylinder head includes a superposed assembly of an elastic metal base plate having a plurality of beads formed along a plurality of juxtaposed holes for combustion chambers, an elastic metal adjusting plate having a plurality of beads formed along a plurality of juxtaposed holes for combustion chambers, and a grommet having a plurality of juxtaposed holes for combustion chambers which are smaller in diameter than the holes in the base and adjusting plates. The grommet is folded about the edges of the holes in the adjusting plate lying between the base plate and the grommet in intimate contact therewith, so that the holes in the base and adjusting plates and the grommet may be aligned to form a plurality of bores.

  • Patent number: 5544901
Abstract: This metal gasket for chain case-carrying engines is capable of reliably preventing the entry of an oil into height different parts, which occur on abutting surfaces of a cylinder block and a chain case, even when the oil deposited on the chain case scatters during a movement of a chain, and improving the reliability thereof owing to its durability. This metal gasket has first and second elastic metal plates provided with beads extending along an opening, in which the chain moves, and an intermediate plate provided with bores packed with seal members for sealing the height different parts occurring at the abutting surfaces of the chain case and cylinder block. The second elastic metal plate is provided with recesses formed by cutting out the portions thereof in which the seal members are positioned.
