  • Patent number: 5720341
Abstract: A duplex heat exchanger of the so-called stacked type has in principle a plurality of plate-shaped tubular elements (1) which are stacked side by side or one on another and a plurality of fins (2) each intervening between the adjacent tubular elements. Each tubular element is composed of flat tubular segments (3a, 4a) separated from each other and each communicating with one of bulged header portions (3b, 4b) of the tubular element, so that flow paths (3, 4) for heat exchanging media are formed through each tubular element. Two or more unit heat exchangers (X, Y) are defined integral with each other within the duplex heat exchanger, since the adjacent tubular elements (1) communicate with each other through the header portions (3b, 4b).

  • Patent number: 5594537
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image bearing member, and a transfer material support having a circumferential length an integer multiple of that of the image bearing member for supporting and transporting a transfer material. An image formed on the image bearing member is transferred at a transfer position onto the transfer material supported by the transfer material support. The image forming apparatus also includes a press member for pressing the transfer material support against the image bearing member at the transfer position. A varying device varies a relative position between the peripheral surfaces of the image bearing member and the transfer material support without shifting the transfer material support away from the image bearing member. A release device releases pressing of the transfer material support against the image bearing member by the press member when the varying device varies the relative position of the image bearing member and the transfer material support.

  • Patent number: 5509082
Abstract: A video camera is placed so as to overlook vehicles' attitudes at an intersection and in the vicinity of the intersection. Video signals provided by the video camera are sent to the main body of a vehicles movement measuring apparatus. An A/D converting unit in the main body converts the video signals into digital data. Digital data in two frames, one of which is taken a certain length of time after the other, is stored in image memory units. Another image memory unit stores data of an input image including no vehicle image. An image data processing unit performs image processing on the data stored in the image memory units and extracts data about vehicles from the processed data. Information relating to speeds, tracking, etc., of vehicles is output from a data input-output unit. This processing of the obtained image data measures vehicles' movement as the degree of traffic jam or the smoothness of the downstream traffic flow on a road with detection of data regarding vehicles presence or speeds.

  • Patent number: 5230573
Abstract: A printer improved in the accuracy of detection as to whether or not recording paper exists. The printer has a sensor provided upstream a printing head in a paper feed direction to detect whether or not recording paper exists, a device for measuring a paper feed quantity of the recording paper, a central processing unit that controls the measuring device and a printer control circuit, and a comparator that makes a comparison between the measured paper feed quantity and a predetermined value. When "paper empty" is detected by the sensor, the central processing unit judges it to be "real paper empty" when no "paper existence" is detected during the period that predetermined paper feed is conducted after the detection of the "paper empty", and then suspends the printing operation. Thus, it is possible to prevent the central processing unit from erroneously judging a printed portion of the recording paper to be the trailing end of the recording paper.

  • Patent number: 4330198
Abstract: A magnetic brush developing device for an electrostatic copying apparatus wherein a magnetic brush is formed on a surface of a developing roller includes a magnet roller rotating inside of a cylindrical sleeve which is located adjacent to the surface of an electrostatic latent image retaining member to which a developing material is circumferentially applied. The magnet roller stops at a rotary angle such that a bristle of the magnetic brush on the sleeve is spaced from the surface of the electrostatic latent image retaining member, whereby a bristle of the magnetic brush is prevented from remaining in contact with the electrostatic latent image retaining member. Thereby, the developing material is prevented from causing the surface of the electrostatic latent image retaining member to change chemically, the developing material is prevented from causing the electrical characteristics of the surface to fail, and the developing material is prevented from adhering to the surface.
