  • Patent number: 5216522
Abstract: An image data encoding/decoding device has a memory for parallel data input/output, a data input unit, a data output unit, an encoding unit, a decoding unit, and a memory control unit. Separate encoding and decoding units are employed to ensure efficient encoding/decoding operations. The image data are handled in serial form in the input, output, encoding and decoding units and in parallel form only at the input to or output from the memory, so that these units can effect simultaneous parallel functions in mutually independent manner. Also, efficient access to the memory is ensured by the memory control unit, which handles simultaneous requests for access from various units according to a predetermined order of priority.

  • Patent number: 5146220
Abstract: A data conversion method and an apparatus for the same which converts undefined-length image signal coded by a MH or MR method for facsimile equipment, etc. into fixed-length data. Coded undefined-length image data is inputted, and, in accordance with a bit length contained in the image data and with the number of the effective bits in the last byte, bits to be outputted from a barrel shifter are shifted. Control is performed to byte pack the bits of the last byte and the shifted bits outputted from the barrel shifter, and coded data is converted into data in byte units, thereby enabling high-speed byte packing.

  • Patent number: 5008704
Abstract: In an electronic copying machine, a picture on an original is optically scanned by an optical system including a first carriage provided with an exposure lamp. An image obtained by the optical system is formed on the surface of a tubular-shaped photoconductive drum rotating in a predetermined direction. Additional pictorial information such as a date or a telephone number, which is not included on the original picture, is written at a desired location on the original image. Such additional information is entered into the copying machine from an operational panel of the machine. The light from the optical system led to the drum is partially shut off by a shutter. A character generator generates pattern data corresponding to the entered additional information, the pattern data being written in at the location on the drum surface which is shielded from the incident light by the shutter. A write unit is used for the writing of the pattern data.

  • Patent number: 5005052
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a main body having an original table surface on which an original is to be placed, and an automatic original feeder. The feeder has an original cover located to oppose the original table surface and vertically movable between a lower position where the original cover contacts with the original table surface and an upper portiion where the original cover is separated from the original table surface. When an original is to be fed between the table surface and the original cover or discharged from between the table surface and the original cover by a feeding mechanism, the original cover is moved to its upper position. When the original on the table surface is to be scanned by an exposing device in the main body, the original cover is moved to its lower position so as to press the original against the table surface.

  • Patent number: 4779157
Abstract: This invention relates to a tape protecting cover of a video tape cartridge, especially to a shaft having a groove the shaft being formed integrally with the tape protecting cover. A first and second molds 12 and 14 divided by the parting line 20 have dents 16 and 18 respectively to form a space when both molds are joined. The dent 16 of the first mold 12 is provided with a rectangular pin 22 for forming a groove so that its one end surface 22a may abut to the end wall surface 16a of the dent 16. The front side 22b of the rectangular pin 22 extends so as to extrude to the dent 18 of the mold 14, and is constructed to form an inclined surface 22c between the end surface 22a of the rectangular pin 22 and itself. The end wall surface 18a of the dent 18 of the second metallic mold 14 is formed to have a same inclined angle .theta. as the rectangular pin so as to abut to the inclined surface 22c of the rectangular pin 22 when both metallic molds are joined.
