  • Publication number: 20050155745
Abstract: A vapor chamber, in which a condensable fluid, which evaporates and condenses depending on a state of input and radiation of a heat, is encapsulated in a hollow and flat sealed receptacle as a liquid phase working fluid; and in which the wick for creating the capillary pressure by moistening by the working fluid is arranged in said sealed receptacle, comprising: a wick for creating a great capillary pressure by being moistened by said working fluid, which is arranged on the evaporating part side where the heat is input from outside; and a wick having a small flow resistance against the moistening working fluid, which is arranged on the condensing part side where the heat is radiated to outside.

  • Patent number: 6487126
Abstract: In a storage device having a read buffer for storing datum read out from a storage medium in the form of cache data, datum are sequentially stored in the read buffer, but the read buffer is not partitioned into a plurality of areas. In the event that a plurality of cache data areas, each of which is an assembly of datum continued in an address on the storage medium, exist in the read buffer, a weighting is applied for each cache data area in connection with an importance of a data save. An overwrite is performed on an area of the minimum weight, and at least data on an area of the maximum weight is saved.

  • Patent number: 5060093
Abstract: A system for controlling the displacement of a head to reduce access time in a disc storage unit having a multiphase stepping motor. While the disc storage unit receives a series of pulses designating the desired displacement of the head, a counter counts the number of pulses received. When the count exceeds a predetermined value at the end of a predetermined time as indicated by a timer, a driving unit selectively drives the stepping motor to displace the head. Displacement of the head towards a desired position may begin before reception of the series of pulses designating the desired position is completed, thereby reducing access time.

  • Patent number: 4883375
Abstract: A guide shaft guides a print head, which moves along a print line of a platen to perform a printing operation. A rotating member and an eccentric cam member, having a toothed sector portion on its periphery, are mounted on the guide shaft. The guide shaft is guided on a frame by a bearing slot, so as to be movable toward and away from the platen. The eccentric cam member rotates as it is always spring-urged to engage a fixed engaging pin. As a result, the guide shaft moves in a direction transverse to its axis, thus changing a gap between the print head and the platen. As the eccentric cam member rotates in one direction, the print head moves away from the platen, in a retreat stroke. In a rear half of the retreat stroke, the toothed sector portion of the rotating member engages a toothed arm, which is connected to a paper bail member for holding a printing medium down on the platen.

  • Patent number: 4777417
Abstract: Lead wires are extended from phase coils of a head control motor, so that their effective reactances may be varied, and reactance selection circuits are additionally provided to switch values of the reactances of the phase coils to a low value. A vector position is sequentially delivered to phase current generators by a processor for designating the vector position, so that a head is displaced to a desired position. Thereafter, the reactances of the phase coils are switched to a high value by the reactance selection circuits, and then the vector position corresponding to the normal one is applied to the phase current generators, so that the head is so controlled as to be positioned at its normal position on a track on a disc and is maintained at this position. During the time of displacement of the head across the tracks, it is ensured that the head control motor is driven at a high response speed.

  • Patent number: 4347077
Abstract: Process for producing a magnesium alloy which comprises:reducing magnesium oxide with a carbonaceous substance at high temperatures;rapidly cooling the resultant reaction product in an inert atmosphere to obtain powder magnesium;mixing the reaction product with a powder metal to be alloyed therewith during or after the rapid cooling; andsubjecting the mixture to heat treatment.

  • Patent number: 4217133
Abstract: An additive for use in metal-refining, particularly desulfurization of pig iron, inoculation for spheroidal graphite cast-iron and dephosphorization of various metals, is prepared by a process wherein a composition comprised of (a) magnesium carbonate and/or magnesium oxide and (b) calcium carbonate and/or calcium oxide is maintained at a temperature of from 1,600.degree. to 4,000.degree. C. in the presence of a carbonaceous material in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, and then, the reaction product in the form of dust is suddenly cooled.
