  • Patent number: 6359999
Abstract: When a spectrally spread additional information signal, obtained by spectrum spreading additional information such as an anti-duplication control signal or copyright information, is superimposed on a video signal, the level of the spectrally spread additional information signal is controlled according to the scatter of pixel values in each block comprising plural pixels. The sensitivity of detecting additional information from the spectrally spread additional information signal is therefore improved, and the visual effect of the spectrally spread additional information signal on a reproduced image is suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6341141
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting spectrum spread signals by reducing the correlation between the main information signal and the spread signal as much as possible, whereby the detection of a spectrum spread signal is made easier. From an input signal, in which a spectrum spread signal obtained by spectrum spreading an additional information signal has been superimposed on a main information signal, the spectrum spread signal is detected. Using a level adjusting circuit, the gain of the input signal, mainly the main information signal is controlled to reduce the change in the main information signal, or the input signal is sliced at a predetermined level by a slicing circuit to fetch a signal at a predetermined level or lower.

  • Patent number: 6339449
Abstract: An additional information signal is superimposed on a video signal at a very low level so that it does not stand out on the reproduced image. Spectral spreading code sequences are generated corresponding to different predetermined parts of the video signal. Bit information signals of the additional information signal made up of plural bits are spectrally spread by the spreading codes to generate spectrally spread bit information signals corresponding to the plural bits. The spectrally spread bit information signals are superimposed on corresponding different predetermined parts of the video signal. Because high priority bit information signals of the spectrally spread additional information signal are superimposed on high priority parts of the video signal, high priority information in the additional information can be protected even if the video signal is modified.

  • Publication number: 20010025327
Abstract: An information processing device, method thereof and a recording medium for easily switching input signals. A broadcast connection and a point-to-point connection are established between the receive device and the transmit device. When the user commands the canceling of the P.P. connection established for the receive device or the transmit device, only the broadcast connection remains established. In this state, the user receives signals on a receive device sent from the desired transmit device, and commands the restoring of the P.P. connection with the desired transmit device. The switching of input signals to the receive device is in this way performed by temporarily canceling the P.P. connection.

  • Patent number: 6163565
Abstract: Video signals are converted into one or more blocks for each predetermined unit amount of data, and a discrete cosine transform (DCT) process is performed in the blocks to convert a video signal from a time-base area signal to a DCT coefficient in a frequency area for data compression. One chip of a spread spectrum signal is allocated to each block of the video signal or to each of a plurality of blocks, and additional information is superimposed on the video signal at a constant level corresponding to a chip value for transmission. The video signal on which the additional information consisting of the spread spectrum signal transmitted has been superimposed is received, and from this received signal, a DC component of the DCT coefficient is extracted. Inverse spread spectrum processing is performed for the DC component of the DCT coefficient extracted to detect the additional information.

  • Patent number: 5951958
Abstract: While a rare earth phosphate prepared by a conventional precipitation method by mixing an aqueous phosphoric acid solution and an aqueous solution of a rare earth salt usually contains an overstoichiometric amount of phosphorus, which is detrimental against luminescent phosphors prepared from the rare earth phosphate, the invention provides a method for the preparation of a rare earth phosphate of a greatly decreased overstoichiometric phosphorus content. The inventive method comprises adding, to either one of the aqueous phosphoric acid solution and the aqueous solution of a rare earth salt, a small amount of oxalic acid or a water-soluble oxalate such as ammonium oxalate so as to effect coprecipitation of a rare earth oxalate with the rare earth phosphate followed by calcination of the oxalate-containing phosphate so as to convert the excess of phosphorus into the phosphate by the reaction with the rare earth oxide formed from the rare earth oxalate by calcination.

  • Patent number: 5861890
Abstract: A storage medium stores image data, audio data and processing programs having different reproduction modes, such as recording systems or data format are stored as stream data. When a specific data is to be read out from the stream data, a mode discrimination data is separated from the data to generate mode information indicative of the recording system of the data and the algorithm for reproduction of the data on the basis of the separated mode discrimination data. Based on the mode information, switching of mode is performed to reproduce image data or audio data of one of the reproduction modes among the data recorded with a plurality of mutually distinct reproduction modes, by the processing program. If the processing program is common for reproduction of other data recorded on the storage medium, such processing program is previously stored for use in common for accelerating taking up of the reproduction processing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5794839
Abstract: A material and method for bonding a semiconductor device to a pedestal, which can obtain a sufficient bonding strength and stable electric contact, are disclosed. On an n-type electrode constituting an ohmic electrode for a semiconductor laser device are formed a Ni layer and an Au-Sn solder layer. Then, the solder layer is melted and bonded to a heat sink provided with Au-plating. The film thickness of the Ni layer is set to approximately 500 .ANG. or more. When the solder layer is melted, Ni in the Ni layer diffuses into the solder layer and Sn in the solder layer diffuses into the Ni layer. By this mutual diffusion, bonding strength and wettability between the semiconductor device and pedestal can be improved. In addition, by setting the composition ratio of Ni layer to the Au-Sn solder layer to 1.3 wt % or more and under 10 wt %, bonding can be performed at a lower melting point and concurrently a higher bonding strength can be obtained.
