  • Patent number: 7367732
Abstract: In order to adjust a position of a cut sheet when the cut sheet begins to be sent to a printing positions a leading edge of the cut sheet is fed towards a pair of sending rollers for sending the cut sheet to a printing position, wherein the sending rollers are held at rest or rotated in reverse. If a predetermined condition is satisfied, a feeding speed of the cut sheet decreases when the leading edge of the cut sheet reaches a position that is a predetermined distance upstream of the sending rollers. If the predetermined condition is not satisfied, the feeding speed of the cut sheet does not decrease before the leading edge of the cut sheet contacts the sending roller. A decline in printing quality and an unnecessary delay in printing time can be prevented. With the sending rollers, an effect to prevent the leading edge of the cut sheet from being fed in a slanted position is also maintained.

  • Publication number: 20070170636
Abstract: This invention is related to a feeder for transporting a print medium from a tray along a U-shaped transporting path. The feeder includes a movement member coupled to a feeding roller. The movement member includes a first portion located at a position such that the print medium makes contact with the first portion when a transporting roller and the feeding roller simultaneously make contact with the print medium. The first portion receives a force from the print medium when the first print medium makes contact with the first portion. The movement member moves the feeding roller by utilizing the force such that a distance between the feeding roller and the support surface of the tray increases.

  • Publication number: 20070165089
Abstract: A supporting member is swingable about an imaginary swing axis that is parallel to an imaginary rotational axis of a feeding roller. The imaginary swing axis is located above a recording medium accommodated in a recording-medium accommodating section and is located upstream in a feeding direction of the recording medium with respect to the imaginary rotational axis. A first urging member is configured to apply an urging force to the support member in such a manner that the feeding roller contacts the recording medium accommodated in the recording-medium accommodating section. A second urging member is configured to urge an end of the supporting member in a direction that increases the urging force of the first urging member when an angle between a surface of the recording medium and a plane containing both the imaginary rotational axis and the imaginary swing axis is smaller than a predetermined angle.

  • Publication number: 20070160409
Abstract: A feeding roller is rotatable about an imaginary rotational axis extending in an axial direction and is configured to be rotatingly driven in a rotational direction for feeding a recording medium to a conveying path. A supporting section rotatably supports the feeding roller at a position in confrontation with the recording medium accommodated in a recording-medium accommodating section. A driving unit is configured to generate a rotational driving force. A transmitting unit is configured to transmit the rotational driving force to a central part of the feeding roller with respect to the axial direction. A guiding section prevents the recording medium accommodated in the recording-medium accommodating section from displacing in the axial direction. The supporting section rotatably supports the feeding roller in such a manner that an angle of the imaginary rotational axis relative to a reference direction can be changed by a predetermined amount.

  • Publication number: 20070076036
Abstract: In an image-recording device, a feeding roller feeds recording media one at a time from a media-accommodating unit along a conveying path. A pair of registration rollers is disposed on the conveying path and conveys the recording medium fed by the feeding roller to an image-recording region. The registration rollers include a drive roller. A carriage reciprocates in the image-recoding region in a direction intersecting a conveying direction in which the recording medium is conveyed. A recording head is mounted on the carriage. A drive transmission switching unit is disposed outside the image-recording region on one end with respect to the reciprocating direction of the carriage and switches a combination of rotating and halted states of the drive roller in the registration rollers and the feeding roller between a continuous feeding mode and an intermittent feeding mode.

  • Publication number: 20070057447
Abstract: A supply roller for sending a piece of sheet from pieces of sheets stacked within a cassette towards a sheet guide and a pair of feed-in rollers for sending the piece of sheet supplied from the sheet guide towards a printing region are provided within a printer. The pair of feed-in rollers has a feed-in drive roller driven by a motor and a feed-in driven roller driven by the feed-in drive roller. A sending speed of the pair of feed-in rollers is faster than a sending speed of the supply roller, and a sending force of the pair of feed-in rollers is stronger than a sending force of the supply roller. A controller of the printer controls the rotation of the supply roller and the pair of feed-in rollers according to a procedure that does not rely on a position of the sheet sent by the supply roller and the pair of feed-in rollers during the continuous feeding mode.
