  • Patent number: 4933771
Abstract: A facsimile machine provided with a page printer for printing image data on one or more cut sheets of recording medium. In the case where at least two differently sized cut sheets of recording medium are selectively used for recording of received image data, the facsimile machine includes a control system to keep the first selected size until recording of all of the image data of the same original document has been completed. In another embodiment, the amount of a single page of data and the size of cut sheet of recording medium in use are constantly monitored, and if the amount of a single page of data is equal to or less than half of the size of cut sheet of recording medium in use, then two pages of data are recorded on a single cut sheet of recording medium.

  • Patent number: 4731658
Abstract: A facsimile machine using a cut sheet of paper for recording image data thereon is provided with a function of recoding the image data on the cut sheet of paper as reduced in size with a size reduction rate determined by the size of the image data and the size of the cut sheet of paper if the image data to be recorded is longer than the cut sheet or paper but the length of the image data does not exceed a predetermined value. The facsimile machine is also provided with a function of recording the image data on two or more cut sheets of paper as divided with unity magnification if the size of the image data exceeds the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4695898
Abstract: A facsimile machine uses cut sheets ofrecording paper of a predetermined size. If data to be recorded requires a cut sheet of paper of a size larger than the cut sheets of paper of the predetermined size set in the facsimile machine for use, then upon completion of recording part of the data on one of the cut sheets of recording paper of the predetermined size, a predetermined number of lines recorded at the end of the one of the cut sheets of paper are once again recorded at the beginning of the next following cut sheet of paper prior to recording of the following portion of the data to be recorded. In this manner, since that portion of data, which is divided between the two consecutive pages, is recorded twice in accordance with the present invention, no information will be lost even if the data to be recorded is significantly long.

  • Patent number: 4593323
Abstract: The present facsimile machine comprises a system control unit, including a pair of central processing units (CPU's), and main and auxiliary power supplies. In one embodiment of the present invention, the second (slave) CPU receives power from the auxiliary power supply to constantly monitor the facsimile system. Upon receipt of a predetermined signal, the second CPU causes the main power supply turned on to render the first (master) CPU operative, thereby the second CPU becomes functionally dependent upon the first CPU. In another embodiment of the present invention, various functions of the facsimile machine are shared by the two CPU's. That is, one CPU is directed to control the communication-related functions with the other CPU directed to control the mechanism-related functions.

  • Patent number: 4297727
Abstract: Scanning and recording operations are performed by separate mechanical and electronic units. Signal processing, run length encoding and decoding operations are performed by a microcomputer on a priority interrupt basis utilizing at least two sections of a random access memory. The microcomputer operates on and stores the data on a byte-by-byte basis, with each byte having a predetermined number of bits such as eight.
