  • Patent number: 5459361
Abstract: The inner wall of a hub has a step surface between an upper bearing mounting surface and a magnet mounting surface. A spacer of ring-like shape is directly mounted to the step surface of the hub for determining the upper position of a rotor magnet. The inside diameter of the spacer is smaller than the inner wall at the bearing mounting surface of the hub so that a space is created between the bearing mounting surface, the spacer, and the bearing for holding a portion of adhesive. When a portion of the adhesive applied for bonding the bearing to the bearing mounting surface of the hub remains uncured, it will be retained in the space and prevented from entering the interior of the motor.

  • Patent number: 4880435
Abstract: A rechargeable alkaline storage cell and a method of manufacturing the cell. The manufacturing method mainly comprises a first step of forming a cadmium electrode by coating a conductive support with a kneaded active material in paste form including cadmium oxide as a main component thereof while suppressing hydration of the kneaded active material, and a second step of producing cadmium hydroxide through hydration of the cadmium oxide. The cell comprises, as main components thereof, a positive electrode including a rechargeable active material, a paste type negative cadmium electrode including cadmium hydroxide produced by chemical hydration, a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte impregnating the separator.

  • Patent number: 4582767
Abstract: A lead storage battery comprising a battery casing has a first case member (such as a tray) and a second case member (such as a cover) in a superposed relation. The tray has a protruding part for mounting one external terminal, and the cover has a protruding part for mounting the other external terminal. The tray and cover have recessed regions for receiving the protruding parts for mounting the external terminal of an opposing case member of the tray and the cover. The tray has a recessed region for holding a safety valve so that the safety valve is covered by the cover when the tray and the cover are superposed. A small hole is formed in the recessed region such that the small hole is connected with an interior of the battery casing.

  • Patent number: 4216045
Abstract: A novel process is provided for producing an improved electrode for an alkaline battery comprising the steps of adding an unsintered fluorocarbon resin powder to an active material powder and intimately mixing them together, applying a shear force to said mixture to thereby form agglomerates capable of retaining said active material powder in a network structure resulting from a fiber-formation of said fluorocarbon resin powder, adding an aqueous solution of a paste to said agglomerates, kneading them to mutually bind said agglomerates and thus forming a rubbery mass converting said rubbery mass into a sheet and attaching the sheet thus formed onto an electrically conductive core. The process provides an electrode having excellent reactivity and results in improved production efficiency.
