  • Publication number: 20020073417
Abstract: An audience response determination apparatus detects the state of an audience and the individual states of the members of the audience to determine the response of the audience to the content of entertainment and the like. Based on the thus determined audience response, a playback operation of the content such as a movie is controlled, so that the level of satisfaction felt by the audience to the content can be increased.

  • Patent number: 5307165
Abstract: A television signal kind discriminating apparatus discriminates an input television signal in a short time between a MUSE signal having a three-value type horizontal synchronizing signal and a popular television signal such as an NTSC signal having a horizontal synchronizing signal consisting only of signals of a single polarity. An input television signal is converted into a binary signal by a level comparator using a level between first and second polarity signal portions of the horizontal synchronizing signal of the MUSE signal, and the binary signal is delayed by a predetermined time by a delay circuit. An exclusive OR signal between the binary signal not delayed and the binary signal delayed is outputted from a gate, and a temporal position of a mid point of the horizontal synchronizing signal of the input television signal is detected by a detector.

  • Patent number: 5055122
Abstract: Concerning the manufacture of sheet glass by the float process using, as a glass melting and refining tank furnace, a common regenerative furnace having two oppositely arranged sets of burners which are periodically alternately operated with a temporary interruption of firing operation at each reversal of firing, the invention relates to the control of the rate of feed of molten glass from the tank furnace onto a molten metal bath through a canal provided with a control tweel which can be moved upward and downward. At each reversal of firing in the furnace the tweel is temporarily lifted so as to compensate for a decrease in the volumetric rate of flow of molten glass through the canal caused by the temporary interruption of firing operation.
