  • Patent number: 4759170
Abstract: A film made of synthetic resin is pulled continuously from a roll thereof and formed into a tubular shape the overlapping longitudinal edge portions of which are fused. The interior of the resulting tubular film is filled with a liquid or viscous material to form a tubular body fed while it is being formed. The tubular body is squeezed intermittently at a predetermined time interval by a pair of rotating cylindrical rollers to form flattened portions devoid of the material, after which each flattened portion is constricted transversely of the tubular body to form a constricted portion. An ultrasonic horn and an anvil are brought into abutting contact with the constricted portion, which is sealed ultrasonically by holding the ultrasonic horn and anvil in abutting contact therewith at a constant contact pressure for a set period of time while the ultrasonic horn applies ultrasonic waves to the constricted portion.

  • Patent number: 4567715
Abstract: An improved packing device is disclosed which features an upwardly biased bag table for receiving a stack of plastic bags. A press member holds down the uppermost of the stack of bags at its mouth end. A pickup device is brought into engagement with the upper surface of the uppermost bag of the stack as the pressure of the uppermost bag against the press member is momentarily reduced, so that the pickup member is enabled to pull out the top surface of the bag from under the press member. The lower surface of the uppermost bag is then retained by the press member so that a blower supplying air to the end of the mouth of the bag to open it fully does not cause the bag to be blown away.

  • Patent number: 4553376
Abstract: A vacuum packaging method and apparatus for packaging solid objects such as food products of various shapes automatically. A web of tubular plastic film is supplied from a roll and drawn over an opening core which opens the plastic film into a rectangular shape. The film is then drawn over the object to be packaged and cut to a predetermined length. In one embodiment, the front end of the film is then sealed and the object urged towards the sealed end. In another embodiment, both ends of the film are left open at this point. The object with the film positioned therearound is transferred to a vacuum chamber. Prior to the chamber being evacuated, tension is applied to the film so as to prevent the formation of creases.

  • Patent number: 4534155
Abstract: A solid material packing method and apparatus are disclosed wherein the plastic film bags are transported from a storage location to a packing location by a pivotable taking member having adhesive surfaces at its free end. The taking member includes an elongate adhesive tape which can be advanced between the transporting of successive bags to renew the adhesive surfaces. A solid material supplying device comprises a pair of conduit-shaped members which are movable toward and away from one another, the conduit-shaped members moving away from one another as they move toward the bag at said packing location to thereby hold open the bag for insertion of a solid material.

  • Patent number: 4507039
Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic parison feed system for tubular plastic parisons. The parisons are fed, one at a time, from a parison feed unit into a parison loading unit. The parison loading unit, which holds a parison vertically, is positioned above a shuttered aperture in the upper wall of a heating furnace. The shutter of this aperture is opened as the parison loading unit descends vertically to a predetermined position within the furnace. The parison loading unit releases its parison, which falls onto a vertical parison pin mounted on an endless parison conveyor moving within the furnace. The parison loading unit is then raised from the furnace and the shutter is closed.
