The pointing device holds codes of binary or more corresponding to predetermined drawing functions, detects a transmission signal transmitted from the transmission electrodes, generates a generation signal by, based on the codes, inverting and amplifying the transmission signal with an amplification factor of at least one pulse out of the pulses being different from amplification factors of other pulses, and outputs the generation signal to the reception electrodes. The control circuit identifies a code included in the generation signal and performs a drawing function corresponding to the code at the position of the pointing device on the display device.
