Abstract: Disclosed is a distance measuring apparatus for measuring a distance to a target object also its shape precisely without influence of noise, which is applied to a invader monitoring system. This apparatus comprises a clock signal generator unit, a modulated light projector unit, a light receiver unit, and a demodulator unit, and obtains a range image presenting signal levels changing according to the distances to the objects including the target object by irradiating light onto the objects and receiving reflected light. In the demodulator unit, the range image is processed for evaluating and removing noise components, for interpolating and averaging noise removed region, and for selecting the target object region. Those processes are carried out from the following point of view, the variation of the distance signal levels, the received quantity of light, and the variation of the received quantity of light.

  • Patent number: 6313462
Abstract: In an infrared-rays detector, a pyroelectric element detects existence or movement of a human body, and the output signal of the pyroelectric element is converted to a voltage signal. Then, the voltage signal is subjected to waveform analysis. Then, a detection signal is outputted only when a waveform generated by a human body is detected by the waveform analysis. For example, the voltage signal is amplified at two different frequency ranges, and the amplified signals are used for discriminating a signal due to a human body. Then, a noise such as a popcorn noise of the pyroelectric element is prevented to be detected erroneously as generated by a human body.

  • Patent number: 5905576
Abstract: A laser diode 11 irradiates an object 3 with beam light modulated in an appropriate cycle. A position detection element 21 outputs a pair of position signals responsive to the position of a light reception spot and a processing section finds a distance to the object 3 based on the position signals. The processing section comprises a modulation control circuit 34 for irradiating the object 3 with beam light as many times as appropriate for performing distance measurement operation, then stopping the distance measurement operation and generating modulation control output indicating the operation stop, and upon reception of modulation control input indicating the operation start from the outside, again starting the distance measurement operation. Therefore, if the modulation control output of one of the two optical displacement measurement devices is directed to the modulation control input of the other, both the optical displacement measurement devices operate alternately, thus do not interfere with each other.

  • Patent number: 5835911
Abstract: A number of sets of software may be systematically distributed and maintained via a network connecting many vendors and users of client/server software. A client program in a user computer detects when software subject to maintenance is activated and transmits an inquiry over the network to the software vendor's computer for information on the current version of the software. The server program compares data in the inquiry with data relating to the latest version of the software and returns update instruction information and updated software if appropriate. The client program automatically updates the software to the latest version according to the update instruction information when it is received. The client program can also send inquires at predetermined times, or in response to a user command.

  • Patent number: 5351126
Abstract: An optical measurement system for determination of a profile or thickness of an object includes first and second optical heads directing first and second light beams, respectively on first and second points on the surface of the object. Photo-sensors are included respectively in the first and second optical heads for receiving reflected lights from said first and second points and providing first and second outputs which varies in proportion to perpendicular distances from a reference plane to said first and second points on the object's surface. The first and second outputs are transmitted selectively to a single processing circuit through a switch. The processing circuit operates to process the first and second outputs in sequence to measure by triangulation the perpendicular distance of the first and second points from the reference plane and to analyze a surface or thickness of the object based upon thus measured perpendicular distances.
