Abstract: Keyset fingerprint sensors integrated within a keyset of an input device are described herein. A sensor key having an integrated fingerprint sensor is included within an arrangement of keys rather than being provided as a separate or external component. The fingerprint sensor operates to capture fingerprint data and initiate recognition processing responsive to actuation of the sensor key. In implementations, the cover includes a cut-out exposes the underlying fingerprint sensor so the fingerprint sensor is visible through an opening in the surface the key. Alternatively, the cover forms a surface designed to conceal the underlying fingerprint sensor. In this approach, the sensor key matches other keys within the arrangement of keys, such that the sensor key “blends-in” and is not visible from the surface of the key. In implementations, the sensor key includes a rigid PCB layer having fingerprint sensor componentry mounted to the PCB layer.

  • Publication number: 20160259427
Abstract: A foldable input device is described. In one or more implementations, an input device includes a first housing having a first collection of sensors configured to generate inputs responsive to user interaction and a second housing having a second collection of sensors configured to generate inputs responsive to user interaction. The input device also includes a wireless communication device configured to communicate the generated inputs to a computing device that are usable to initiate one or more operations of the computing device and a flexible hinge securing the first and second housings to each other and configured to permit rotational movement of the first and second housings in relation to each other.

  • Publication number: 20140333536
Abstract: An input device for use with a computing device includes a ball, a spring configured to encircle at least a portion of the ball, and a scroll wheel having an outer circumferential surface configured to be contacted by a digit of a user and having an inner circumferential surface having formed thereon a plurality of protrusions spaced substantially evenly from one another. The spring is configured to exert an upward force on the ball against at least one of the plurality of protrusions to provide a detent to the scroll wheel.
