  • Publication number: 20240276373
Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein may include receiving proximity messages during a first time period via a wireless personal area network. Each proximity message may include a proximity identifier calculated using a unique identifier for a proximate electronic device. In addition, the techniques may include retrieving, from a database, a set of device identifiers corresponding to devices in the first electronic device's contact list. The techniques may include for each message: determining whether the proximity identifier of the proximate electronic device matches a device identifier, thereby determining matching proximity messages. Moreover, the techniques may include generating an event score for the first time period based on the matching proximity messages, the event score having a probability that an event has occurred between the first electronic device another device. Also, the techniques may include determining whether an event has occurred by comparing the event score to an event threshold.

  • Patent number: 12040650
Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically charging energy storage devices connected to a power grid or other power system are provided. Charging decisions for charging the energy storage devices may be optimized, for example by basing the decisions on historical data, to provide more efficient or effective charging and use of power. The historical data may include an amount of energy previously discharged by each of the energy storage devices, a previous charging decision for each of the devices, a previous total fixed load power request of the power grid, and/or a pervious amount of power received by the power grid, which may include power received from intermittent power sources. In some aspects, the present techniques do not require current system state information or explicit predictions of future intermittent power availability. In some aspects, charging decisions are based on a solution to an online optimization problem.

  • Publication number: 20170085076
Abstract: A setting and coordination calculation method for protection setting value of DC system is introduced. A protective template library is built by classifying the DC system protections to various protective areas and classifying each protective area. Based on project configuration, a mathematical model of converter station is built, the parameters of equipment components and locations of short circuit are given. The short-circuit current value and the parameters of equipment component are regarded as process parameters during the setting and coordination. The electromagnetic transient simulation is carried out at first in this method. And a specified and standard project of the setting and coordination is formed by abstracting and standardizing the process of the setting and coordination, which makes present setting and coordination of DC transmission engineering independent of the electromagnetic transient simulation software.

  • Patent number: 6307884
Abstract: An apparatus and method for improving error rate performance in a communication channel utilizes a dual decision feedback equalizer (DDFE) through the application of selective attenuation. An improved DDFE comprises first and second decision feedback equalizers (DFEs) operably connected in parallel to receive a series of input signals zk. The DFEs independently generate two series of decisions â ;1k and â ;2k in relation to peak magnitudes of the series of transmitted signals zk by filtering the series of decisions â ;1k and â ;2k to generate filtered outputs (a*p)1k and (a*p)2k based on previous decisions, and summing the filtered outputs (a*p)1k and (a*p)2k with the transmitted input series zk to generate two series of decision variables ã1k and ã2k, to remove effects of intersymbol interference.
