  • Patent number: 8356235
Abstract: If a large minimum data unit for recorded data is used to record a small data amount of management information, the recording time is long, and furthermore when a WO (write once) is used as the recording medium, the number of recording operations is restricted. To solve the above problems, the present invention records data in a management area in units smaller than ordinary units for recorded data to suitably record information in a limited management area and thereby efficiently use the user data area. At that time, the present invention simplifies interleave processing usually applied to ordinary recorded data, and performs the simplified interleave processing on a data structure (for data of small size) of the present invention so as to ensure the signal processing compatibility between the ordinary data and data having the data structure according to the present invention.

  • Patent number: 8325128
Abstract: In a display device such as a liquid crystal display, a processing for compressing a range of display data (grayscale) to a low grayscale side (a grayscale range where response is fast) except for a high grayscale side (a grayscale range where response is slow) at a predetermined compression ratio to conduct display according to response characteristic of transition between grayscales and a temperature state and a processing for increasing a light amount of a backlight to compensate for luminance change due to the compression are performed, for example, in a liquid crystal panel of TN liquid crystal. Thereby, response can be made fast even at a low temperature time.

  • Patent number: 8154498
Abstract: In a display device using an RGB time division drive system in which RGB data to be supplied to display pixels of three colors RGB are subjected to time-division multiplexing and input to a liquid crystal panel unit, (1) data are input to the liquid crystal panel unit alternately in the order of RGB and BGR every line signal, and a selection signal SC which is in the on-state at a break of one line period is kept in the on-state until the next line period. In addition, (2) over a partial non-display period in partial display, selection signals SA, SB and SC are always in the off-state and an equalize signal EQG is in the on-state.

  • Publication number: 20110242112
Abstract: The display driver includes: a display data compression circuit; a recording circuit; a display data decompression circuit; and an output circuit. Further, the display driver is provided with a compressibility setting circuit. The display data compression circuit has the function of compressing the display data according to a compressibility set by the compressibility setting circuit. With the display driver arranged like this, the power consumption can be reduced by increasing the compressibility for a displayed image such that the image quality is not noticeably deteriorated even with the compressibility increased. Further, for the displayed image such that the image quality is noticeably deteriorated with the compressibility increased, a sufficient image quality after data decompression can be secured by lowering the compressibility.

  • Publication number: 20100302287
Abstract: Overdrive over multiple frames is made more efficient in a display device drive circuit that drives a display device so slow in response that target brightness is not reached even after overdrive is performed for one frame. When a display gray scale is changed from a first gray scale to a second gray scale, a display driving device varies overdrive driving voltage according to the number of frames since the point of time of the change. This makes it possible to obtain high-speed luminance response. When the number of frames for which an identical image is continuously displayed is known beforehand, the number of frames is set in a display pattern setting register and a function of detecting timing of a change of images is provided. This enables efficient overdrive. At low temperature, further, a display image is updated once for several frames according to temperature information. This enhances the visibility of the image.

  • Publication number: 20100295872
Abstract: The present invention is directed to improve efficiency in use of a memory for storing display data which is used for an overdrive process. A display driver for driving a display device compresses image display data, stores the compressed data into a memory, and generates a preceding frame by decompressing the data read from the memory. A setting unit divides a display screen of the display device into, for example, a first region as a center part and a second region as a peripheral part. An overdrive computing unit generates overdrive display data in response to a present-time frame and the preceding frame, compresses the image display data in the first and second regions at first and second data compression ratios of small and large values, respectively, and stores the compressed data into the memory. By saving the space of the memory, the picture quality in the first region is improved.

  • Publication number: 20090289965
Abstract: A liquid crystal driving device is provided, which can reduce the problem of contrast lowering of the liquid crystal display screen due to the decrease of the driving current of LED, by the control which is performed in order to cope with the decrease of the maximum rated current of LED as a light source of the backlight at a high temperature. The liquid crystal driving device includes a liquid crystal driving circuit, a backlight control unit, and display data expansion circuits. The liquid crystal driving circuit generates a liquid crystal driving signal to be supplied to a liquid crystal display panel in response to display data. The backlight control unit reduces driving current of the light emitting diode as a light source of the backlight module to illuminate the liquid crystal display panel, in response to the temperature rise of the liquid crystal display panel.

  • Publication number: 20080315890
Abstract: An image display device includes a black spot defect position determination circuit which determines a position of a black-spot defective pixel of a self-luminous display panel. A detection-use current source in the black spot defect position determination circuit is connected to pixels during a period separate from a display period of data signals thus determining a black spot defect. The position of the black spot defect is stored in a storing circuit and is transmitted to a display and detection control circuit. The display and detection control circuit corrects the data signals to the pixels around the defective pixel based on a black spot defect position, and drives a data line drive circuit based on the corrected data signals thus visually correcting the black spot defect.
