    Abstract: This invention provides a substrate concentration measuring method for measuring a concentration of a substrate included in a specimen based on an output for measurement from an enzyme electrode when the enzyme electrode and the substrate are reacted with each other, the substrate concentration is calculated using an output for correction from the enzyme electrode obtained when a reference solution whose substrate concentration is known and the enzyme electrode are reacted with each other before or after the enzyme electrode and the substrate are reacted with each other. For example, the output for correction is measured by each specimen. In this method, the substrate concentration may be calculated using the output for correction for the specimen to be measured and an output for correction corresponding to the at least one other specimen and measured prior to the output for correction.

    Abstract: An operation quantity detector detects an operation quantity. Hydraulic passage systems provide connection between hydraulic chambers of a tandem type master cylinder and wheel cylinders. A hydraulic pressure source in the hydraulic passages can pressurize the hydraulic passages based on the operation quantity. Cutoff valves each is installed in each of the hydraulic passages, between the master cylinder and the hydraulic pressure source. The hydraulic pressure detectors detect hydraulic pressures of the hydraulic passages. In the opening command state, a first mutual diagnosis based on the hydraulic pressures and the operation quantity and a second mutual diagnosis based on the hydraulic pressures are performed. In the closing command state, the first and second mutual diagnoses are performed. A failure is detected in the cutoff valves and the hydraulic pressure detecting units based on results of the first and second mutual diagnoses in the opening closing command states.

    Abstract: Systems and methods to prevent dragging of a fluid pressure type disk brake system are described herein. Brake fluid pressure generated by a master cylinder during a braking operation is transmitted to a wheel cylinder via a VSA system. The VSA system includes a low pressure accumulator and an out-valve disposed between the wheel cylinder and the low pressure accumulator. Temporarily opening the out-valve during a braking operation allows part of the brake fluid that would otherwise be supplied to the wheel cylinder to be supplied to the low pressure accumulator. After the braking operation by the driver is completed, brake fluid supplied to the wheel cylinder is returned to the master cylinder. Thus, a piston of the wheel cylinder is withdrawn by an extra amount corresponding to the amount of brake fluid supplied to the low pressure accumulator, thus reliably prevents disk pad dragging in the disk brake system.
