  • Patent number: 8645319
Abstract: An information processing system, a data update method and a data update program are disclosed. In a data base system of master-slave configuration, the update result can be accessed also on slave side with the access request immediately after the particular update. The data base system DBS includes a master DB computer and at least a slave DB computer. The slave DB computer judges from the count on an update counter table whether the update log received from the master DB computer is to be reflected in a duplicate data base or not. Thus, the lost update problem is solved while at the same time realizing a high-speed process.

  • Patent number: 8346744
Abstract: A method of increasing a processing performance by setting a suitable upper limit of a resources count for each processing request according to an arrangement of hardware such as a storage device or to contents of the processing request. A processing request acceptor accepts the processing request as a data query. An auxiliary storage device forms a storage area where a database is stored. A data operation executor analyzes the accepted processing request and executed the data operations on the basis of the analyzed result. A resource manager manages the respective data operations allocated to generated processes or threads. A buffer manager caches data of the data operations upon execution of the data operations from the auxiliary storage device to a memory, and determines whether or not the data as the target of the data operations are present in the cache.

  • Patent number: 7689603
Abstract: A file server device is provided which has less chance of error in changing directory settings information. A file server device that has access to a client computer and a disk array device receives a directory settings file, and writes the directory settings file in a specified shared directory. The file server device chooses, as a migration destination candidate, a volume whose settings information matches new settings information of the shared directory which is set as specified in the directory settings file. The file server device migrates information in the shared directory whose settings information is changed to the volume chosen as a migration destination candidate.

  • Patent number: 7200628
Abstract: To store data in an insertion process, a process 1 that inserts data into a new block and a process 2 that inserts, within the block reserved, data into areas that became free when data was deleted are prepared. A switching event to switch from the process 1 to the process 2 is designated in advance. The occurrence of the designated event is checked while executing the process 1 in an insertion process, and if the designated event occurs, the insertion process executes the process 2. If during the execution of the process 2, areas that can be reused become depleted, the execution of the insertion process reverts back to the process 1. As a result, free areas resulting from deletions can be reused according to the switching event designated.

  • Patent number: 7143105
Abstract: When a trigger and a method for changing partition definition information have been defined, a DBMS monitors the occurrence of the trigger. When the occurrence of the trigger is detected, a specified partition change is executed automatically. When the partition change is executed, migrations of data among storage areas are executed in parallel as long as the migration source storage area and the migration destination storage area of one piece of the data do not overlap those of another piece of the data.

  • Patent number: 7107427
Abstract: In a storage management system for managing a storage device for storing data, management information for managing the storage device, area assignment information for managing an area assignment state of the storage device, and history information for managing a history on area assuring and release are held. Further, an assignment request for temporarily using an area is received in association with designation of an area size and a using period. It is determined whether or not the requested area can be assigned by referring to information calculated from the held history information. An area with a designated size at a designated period is assigned to a request source if the area can be assigned as a result of the determination. In the determination, transition of a used amount of a storage is obtained from the history information, and it is determined based on the transition of the used amount of the storage whether or not the designated area can be assigned at the designated period.
