  • Patent number: 5622408
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a seat reclining apparatus for a vehicle having a seat cushion and a seat back pivotally hinged thereto. A lower arm is secured to the seat cushion, while an upper arm is secured to the seat back. The lower arm and upper arm are rotatably mounted on a rotating shaft. A load sustaining mechanism is provided between the lower arm and the upper arm, and sustains a reaction force which is caused to be applied to the rotating shaft when the locking mechanism restrains the rotation of the upper arm relative to the lower arm. The load sustaining mechanism may comprise an arcuate protruding portion formed on the lower arm, and an arcuate groove formed on the upper arm for receiving the protruding portion.

  • Patent number: 5028028
Abstract: In a seat sliding device, an upper rail slidably moveable relative a lower rail interlocks with the lower rail upon movement of the upper rail away from the lower rail. An upwardly inclined portion and a downwardly inclined portion can be provided on the upper rail and the lower rails, respectively. A spacer element is provided between the upwardly inclined portion of the upper rail and a corner of the lower rail. The inclined portions and the spacer elements interlock upon movement of the upper rail away from the lower rail. Due to sufficient area being provided between the interlocking portions, separation of the upper rail from the lower rail can be prevented.
