  • Patent number: 8746833
Abstract: A liquid jet head has a head chip including channels and nozzle holes communicating with respective ones of the channels. The channels have sidewalls each provided with a drive electrode. A temperature sensor is configured to detect a temperature of a liquid in the channels. A drive voltage value setting device is electrically connected to the temperature sensor for determining a magnitude of a drive voltage based on the temperature of the liquid detected by the temperature sensor. A control device performs a control operation that applies a drive voltage of the magnitude determined by the drive voltage value setting device to the drive electrodes of the head chip so as to increase a pressure in each of the channels by deformation of the side walls to thereby discharge the liquid in the channels from the respective nozzle holes.

  • Patent number: 8662610
Abstract: A pressure damper includes a main body portion having a recessed portion with an opening and a communication hole that opens to an inner surface of the recessed portion and communicates to an external region. A flexible thin film closes the opening of the main body portion for reducing pressure fluctuations of fluid in the recessed portion. A detecting portion is engaged with the main body portion for detecting electromotive force generated by electromagnetic induction to thereby detect a relative positional change between the flexible thin film and the main body portion.

  • Patent number: 8162451
Abstract: A pressure buffer is disposed in an ink supply path that connects an ink supply source to an ink-jet head to suppress pressure fluctuations due to vibrations created by movement of a carriage. The pressure buffer includes a chamber having an ink flow inlet through which ink flows from the ink supply source into the chamber and an ink flow outlet through which the ink flows from the chamber to the ink-jet head. A partition wall disposed within the chamber extends at least partly along a side wall of the chamber to define an ink flow path that communicates at its upper end with the chamber and at its lower end with the ink flow outlet. A through-opening is provided in the partition wall in the vicinity of the ink flow outlet and through which the ink flows between the ink flow path and the chamber to suppress pressure fluctuations in the ink flow path. Alternatively, an air pocket may be provided in the partition wall in the vicinity of the ink flow outlet to reduce presure fluctuations in the ink flow path.
