  • Publication number: 20090172946
Abstract: A suspension coil spring, when assembled to a suspension device, in which a spring reaction axis is positioned coincident with or sufficiently close to a load input axis, and the design and manufacture of coil springs are facilitated. Namely, A suspension coil spring (19) in a free state is formed so that a coil axis (AC) is bent in V-shape at bend point (PB) and the distance from the end turn center (CU) of the upper seating surface (38) to an imaginary coil axis (AI) is an upper inclination amount (Vu), and the distance from the end turn center (CL) to the imaginary coil axis (AI) is a lower inclination amount (VL). When the suspension coil spring (10) is interposed between spring seats (22, 24) in the suspension device and compress along a strut axis, the spring reaction axis of the suspension coil spring (10) is inclined and offset with respect to the imaginary coil axis (AI) according to the inclination amounts (VU, VL).

  • Publication number: 20090174127
Abstract: In a vibration isolation device 10, a connection rod 12 penetrates through a cavity part 104 of a rubber elastic body 44 and the inner circumferential side of a main body plate 14. In addition, a stopper rubber 98 fixed on the outer circumferential side of a rod main body 13 of the connection rod 12 is placed in the cavity part 104 of the rubber elastic body 44. This allows the rod main body 13 aligned in overlying relation with the rubber elastic body 44 along the axial direction of the connection rod 12 to be stored in the device. Thus, a stopper member 96 fixed to the rod main body 13 of the connection rod 12 can form a stopper mechanism. Therefore, while suppressing the increase in dimension along the axial direction of the device, the dimension along the axial direction of the device can be prevented from expanding by the stopper mechanism for preventing the excessive displacement along the direction orthogonal to the axis of the connection rod 12.

  • Patent number: 7523851
Abstract: In the third step of joining of the metal members, the pressing force of the rotational tool under rotation is maintained at the third pressing force that is smaller than the second pressing force until a specified period of time elapses after the tip of the pin portion of the rotational tool has reached the specified point that is at a distance from the joining face. Accordingly, the proper plastic flow of the metal member can be generated and thereby the joining strength with a sufficient period of time of agitation can be ensured, by maintaining a high temperature enough to soften the metal member and by preventing the rotational tool from coming into the metal member too deeply or from penetrating the metal member.

  • Patent number: 7353977
Abstract: An aluminum plate and a steel plate are lapped. A rotating tool is placed on the aluminum plate, and then a pressing force and a rotational force around a pressing axis of the rotating tool are applied to the aluminum plate and the steel plate. A zinc plating layer having oxidation-prevention function is formed on the surface of the steel plate in advance. When joining the both plates, an oxidation film formed on the aluminum plate is destroyed and the zinc plating layer is pushed out outward from a joining portion, by applying the above pressing force and frictional heat and plastic flow due to the rotation of the rotating tool. Thereby, respective new uncovered surfaces of the both plates are directly contacted.

  • Publication number: 20040256830
Abstract: A strut type suspension device which comprises a strut (7) whose upper end is supported on an insulator (3) mounted on a vehicle body (1), an upper seat (5) arranged on the lower face of the vehicle body with a bearing (4) interposed therebetween, a lower seat (8) fixed to said strut, and a compression coil spring (6) arranged around the strut between the upper seat and the lower seat, and which supports the vehicle body by means of the strut and is capable of turning about a kingpin axis, wherein the bearing is arranged in inclined fashion such that the kingpin axis and the bearing central axis roughly coincide, so that no rotation moment is generated about the kingpin axis. Due to the above arrangement of the strut-type suspension device, the strain energy of the spring is unchanged irrespective of the rotation angle about the kingpin axis, even if the amount of the eccentricity varies, and thereby straight traveling stability is improved.

  • Patent number: 6736448
Abstract: A pair of left and right front frames are formed with brittle sections on proximal portions of the frames, by the provision of the smaller cross-sectional area than other sections of the frame. The brittle sections and their peripheral sections are processed so as to become approximately equal to the other sections of the front frames in axial compressive strength by way of a hardening treatment like quenching. In an early-phase of a collision, the hardened brittle sections will not buckle so as to induce larger initial load. Thereafter, the brittle sections will buckle because of their lower ductility, so that the front frames begin bending deformation to effectively absorb the collision energy.

  • Patent number: 6552292
Abstract: When a seat (3) (FIG. 6A) on which a wax layer (7) is formed via a melting reaction layer (5) is brought into contact with a head (2) and heated and pressed in this state, a melting reaction layer (6) forms below the wax layer (FIG. 6B). When electric current application and pressing are continued from this state, a wax which has not reacted in the wax layer (7) in the formation of the melting reaction layer (6) is discharged from between the melting reaction layers (5) and (6). When electrical current application and pressing are further continued from this state, the two melting reaction layers (5) and (6) diffuse each other. The result is that a ternary alloy bonding layer (10) containing Fe, Al, and Zn, which constitute the melting reaction layers (5) and (6) is formed between the seat (3) and the head (2) (FIG. 6D).

  • Patent number: 6222152
Abstract: Quality localized surface treatment such as remelting a surface portion of a work by electric heating can be achieved easily by supplying electric current between an energization electrode and the work while holding the distal end portion of the energization electrode nearly in close contact with the surface portion. Localized heating can be successfully accomplished by electric heating based on the heat generated from the self resistance of the energization electrode itself and the heat generated from the contact resistance at the interface between the distal end portion of the energization electrode and the surface portion.

  • Patent number: 6222150
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for joining two metal members into a joined metal member. The method comprise steps of; applying a brazing material having a higher melting point than both the members on the surface of a first metal member and heating them to form a brazing material on said surface and a braze-diffusion layer under the brazing material in the surface area of the first member; and, then, pressing the first and another second metal members between which the brazing material is interposed during heating at a higher temperature than said melting point of the brazing material to squeeze the molten brazing material out between both the contact surfaces of both the metal members, therefor the two metal members being joined by the braze diffusion layers formed in both the surfaces into the joined metal member.

  • Patent number: 6214136
Abstract: The film boiling state of a refrigerant is maintained for a time longer than in the prior art by t to lower the nuclear boiling start temperature to a temperature at which the material proof strength of a work exceeds thermal stress, thereby lowering the cooling rate of the work. In addition, by controlling the cooling rate in hardening, the film boiling state of the refrigerant is maintained to a temperature at which the material proof strength exceeds thermal stress, thereby cooling the work at a temperature equal to or higher than the critical cooling rate of the work.
