Patent number: 9501270Abstract: A system and methods for customizing operating system and application resources on an electronic device are described. Methods of operation include checking for an optimization tag in an application file prior to installing the application file on an electronic device, checking properties of the electronic device in response to detecting the optimization tag, purging resource files that are not necessary for the electronic device based on the electronic device properties, and installing the application on the device. The system and methods, among other advantages in addition to providing customization, reduce file storage in a memory of an electronic device by eliminating resource file duplications.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2014Date of Patent: November 22, 2016Assignee: Google Technology Holdings LLCInventors: Yukiko Kimoto, Limor P Marco

Patent number: 9369870Abstract: A method on an electronic device for a wireless network is described. Unique IDs, detectable by the electronic device, are scanned over a period of time. A unique ID is detected. A plurality of detectable time intervals is determined, within the period of time, for the unique ID. An authentication start time and an authentication end time for the unique ID are determined based on at least three of the plurality of detectable time intervals. Authentication data for the unique ID is stored in a historical database. The authentication data includes the authentication start time and the authentication end time. The electronic device is unlocked based on a lookup of authentication data in the historical database.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 2013Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: GOOGLE TECHNOLOGY HOLDINGS LLCInventors: Akila Varadarajan, Yukiko Kimoto, Limor P Marco, Michelle N Gattuso

Patent number: 9245100Abstract: Embodiments provide a method and apparatus for unlocking a feature of a user portable wireless electronic communication device. The user portable wireless electronic communication device can include a camera configured to capture a characteristic of a waving hand of a user across the user portable wireless electronic communication device. The user portable wireless electronic communication device can include a controller coupled to the camera. The controller can determine whether the user is authorized to access a locked feature of the user portable wireless electronic communication device based on the captured characteristic. The controller can unlock the locked feature if the user is authorized to access the feature.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2013Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Assignee: Google Technology Holdings LLCInventors: Limor P. Marco, Yukiko Kimoto, Akila Varadarajan, Felipe Wolff Ramos

Patent number: 9112859Abstract: A method on an electronic device for a wireless network is described. A plurality of component confidence indicators is determined for a corresponding plurality of authentication components of the electronic device. The plurality of component confidence indicators is grouped into at least first and second sets. A first set confidence indicator is determined based on the component confidence indicators of the first set. A second set confidence indicator is determined based on the component confidence indicators of the second set. An authentication value is determined based on the first set confidence indicator, weighted by a first authentication factor for the first set, and the second set confidence indicator, weighted by the first authentication factor. The electronic device is unlocked based on the authentication value.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 2013Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: Google Technology Holdings LLCInventors: Yukiko Kimoto, Limor P Marco, Akila Varadarajan, Michelle N Gattuso
