  • Patent number: 6188546
Abstract: The magnetic head assembly including a magnetic head having a terminal composed of a conductive film and a supporting spring. The supporting spring has interconnecting patterns (lines) on the top thereof and a projective electrode. The terminal of the magnetic head is electrically connected to the projective electrode of the supporting spring by a solderless, direct contact connection. The magnetic head is fixed to the supporting spring by using a non-electrical bonding agent. This structure makes it possible to stabilize the position of the magnetic head assembly and the relative speed variation between the magnetic head element and the magnetic disk, thereby enhancing the reliability of the magnetic disk apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5383073
Abstract: A magnetic head includes a gimbal with a head slider attached thereon, a load beam retained on the gimbal, and a mount attached on an end portion of the load beam on a side opposite to a side where the head slider is attached. A fulcrum portion as a center of load of the head slider is set on the gimbal to be shifted from a center of the head slider along its longitudinal direction to a proximal end side of the load beam, namely, toward an air upstream side. To compensate for the imbalance of the floating force due to the shift of the fulcrum portion, there is generated a moment about the fulcrum portion. The moment is provided by assigning an inclination angle to a slider attaching surface of the gimbal. The inclination angle can be adjusted by the height of the projection formed as the fulcrum portion. Moreover, the moment is generated by disposing rails on the head slider such that the width on the air upstream side of each rail is wider than the width on the air downstream side of the rail.

  • Patent number: 4922356
Abstract: A transducer supporting apparatus is provided with a rigid structural support connected to a rigid arm portion and a flexible strucural support provided on the free end of the rigid structural support, the flexible structural support comprising two flexible fingers, a transverse frame connecting the two flexible fingers on the extending side thereof through steps, and a slider mounting portion having a tongue form which extends from this frame and is provided adjacent to the two flexible fingers and a slider loaded with a transducer being junctioned with the slider mounting portion. The flexible fingers are so configurated that the end thereof on the side of the rigid arm portion is brought nearer to the plane formed by the floating surface of the slider than the end thereof on the side of the slider mounting portion.

  • Patent number: 4872618
Abstract: An apparatus suitable for use in winding a coil on a toroidal core of a magnetic head of a video tape recorder or magnetic disc player by passing a wire through a minuscule aperture, with the apparatus including an annular wire guide formed with a cutout, a plurality of pairs of feed rollers having axes disposed perpendicular to a plane in which the annular wire guide is disposed, the rollers of each pair engaging each other inside the annular wire guide, and at least one core holding unit for holding a core in such a manner as to be positioned in the cutout of the annular wire guide. By repeatedly performing the operations of feeding a wire by the feed rollers, guiding the movement of the wire by the annular wire guide and inserting the wire through a core window of the toroidal core after transporting the wire to the wire insertion position, it is possible to wind a coil positively with increased speed and reliability.
