  • Patent number: 5739844
Abstract: A two-dimensional image which is constitute by a plurality of frame images which are continuous in time is taken as an image for one eye, while a two-dimensional image obtained by shifting the frame image by N frames (N includes zero and is not fixed), thereby to produce a three-dimensional image. For example, the two-dimensional image is not changed, that is, the frame difference (N) is adjusted to "0" with respect to a portion of the two-dimensional image whose content is not easily converted into a three-dimensional image, while the frame difference (N) is adjusted to (N) larger than (N) for a normal three-dimensional image with respect to a portion of the two-dimensional image whose content is very easily converted into a three-dimensional image, thereby to give further three-dimensional feeling to a viewer as well as reduce the fatigue of the eyes of the viewer.

  • Patent number: 5045847
Abstract: The invention discloses a novel flat display panel suited for use with computer terminal equipment, television sets, or the like. The flat display panel first confines light in a core layer of a light wave guide, and then diminishes refractive index in part of the core layer by applying a specific vltage to it. Light transmitted from part of the core layer having diminished refractive index is then outputted outside from the light wave guide. Using the externally outputted light, the flat display panel displays figures. The flat display panel embodied by the invention minimizes the total thickness of the display panel itself. It effectively allows display of figures in a sizable visual area, and yet, allows display of figures at an extremely fast speed as well.

  • Patent number: 4989958
Abstract: A focus adjusting apparatus comprises a focus lens device provided in an optical system. The focus lens device comprises a transparent container of a rectangular prism form, a lens member supported in the container and formed of poly(acrylic amide) gel as a polymer gel substance having electro-reactive deformability, and a pair of transparent electrodes, the container being filled with water-aceton mixture solution. The lens member is formed by two lens materials having different proportions of acrylic acid group. A voltage is applied to the transparent electrodes under control of an automatic focusing circuit to cause electric field in the container, whereby the lens member is deformed in a concentric spherical form to form a lens. When the application of the voltage is stopped, the lens member returns to the initial form. A focal distance of the lens member is changed according to degrees of such deformation of the lens member.
