  • Patent number: 6245270
Abstract: A polyolefin porous material is produced by synthesizing silica particles, polysiloxane particles or crosslinked vinyl polymer particles having an average particle diameter of 0.01 to 0.1 &mgr;m in a molten polyolefin to obtain a polyolefin composition. The polyolefin composition is subsequently subjected to molding and stretching to obtain a polyolefin porous material. The obtained polyolefin porous material contains fine particles dispersed therein, substantially without forming agglomerates, and has an average pore diameter of 0.005 to 0.1 &mgr;m. The small pore diameter allows the material to be used as a liquid/liquid separation membrane, a base material for precision filtration, or a separator for batteries.

  • Patent number: 4267084
Abstract: The present invention provides a vinyl chloride polymer composition comprising an intimate mixture of a first vinyl chloride polymer containing a sulfide linkage in the molecular chain and a second vinyl chloride polymer having a higher molecular weight than the first polymer, and a process for producing a first vinyl chloride polymer for use in the composition, comprising polymerizing vinyl chloride or a mixture of vinyl chloride and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of a free radical initiator using as a chain transfer agent a mercapto compound or a disulfide compound. Said vinyl chloride polymer composition has been improved in heat stability and processability.

  • Patent number: 4226636
Abstract: A process for producing calcium silicate of the rational formula 2CaO.3SiO.sub.2.nSiO.sub.2.mH.sub.2 O wherein m is a number of more than 0, and n is a number of 0.1 to 10 from a silicate compound and a calcium compound, which comprises contacting a water-soluble silicate compound with a calcium compound in an aqueous medium, and heating them to a temperature of 150.degree. to 250.degree. C., the amount of the aqueous medium being 5 to 100 times the weight of the calcium silicate obtained, and a process for producing calcium silicate or a calcium silicate-gypsum composite, which comprises adding a water-soluble silicate or its aqueous solution gradually to an aqueous suspension of gypsum, and heating the mixture to a temperature of 150.degree. to 250.degree. C. The calcium silicate and the calcium silicate-gypsum composite, which have a structure composed of an assembly of petal-like flakes, are useful as an adsorbent carrier, a delusterant or a filtration aid.

  • Patent number: 3953565
Abstract: A process for producing flame-retardant shaped articles of thermoplastic synthetic resins is disclosed which process comprises dispersing homogeneously in a thermoplastic synthetic resin an inorganic metal compound and a surfactant, said inorganic metal compound being one capable of forming a hydrate by reacting with a member of the group consisting of water and an aqueous acid solution, forming the resulting composition into a desired shaped article, and thereafter contacting the thus obtained shaped article with a member selected from the group consisting of water and an aqueous acid solution, thereby converting said inorganic metal compound contained in said shaped article to a hydrate.
