  • Patent number: 5054985
Abstract: Wall constituent members of a curtain wall are conveniently mounted to a building body by making use of vertical guide sections formed on the respective wall constituent members. A wall constituent member having a vertical guide section formed thereon continuously in the vertical direction, is mounted to a lower portion of the building body. A guide jig that is movable along the vertical guide section of the already mounted wall constituent member is detachably connected to upper and lower portions of a new wall constituent member to be additionally mounted. The new wall constituent member is moved up to a predetermined position while raising the guide jig along the vertical guide section of the already mounted wall constituent member. Then, after the new wall constituent member has been mounted to the building body, the guide jig is lowered along the vertical guide sections of the new wall constituent member and the already mounted wall constituent members.

  • Patent number: 4083641
Abstract: A T-shaped structural joint includes a tubular member connected endwise to a plate member by a screw and a connector press-fitted in a hollow open end of the tubular member, the connector having on its periphery a knurled surface which is held in tight frictional engagement with the interior surface of the open end. The connector has a radially extending slot that allows the connector to contract when forcibly inserted into the tubular member, the connector having a tendency to expand or spring back under its own resiliency upon insertion such that the connector forcibly acts against the interior surface of the tubular member. The connector includes a notched and tapered sleeve that facilitates initial insertion of the connector.

  • Patent number: 4027581
Abstract: There is disclosed a ventilator for use with windows, doors, or other building hardware. The ventilator includes an inner plate having air vents and an outer plate spaced apart from the inner plate in the transverse direction of the ventilator and providing an opening displaced from the air vents. Provided between the inner and outer plates are a filter and a partition extending from the inner plate toward the outer plate until it abuts against the filter. The partition is adapted to direct a flow of air from the opening to the air vents at least twice through the filter. The ventilator is prefabricated as a unit and is easily installed within the windows, doors and the like.

  • Patent number: 4011700
Abstract: A post of uniform cross sectional shape for installation uprightly on the outside of a balustraded window or the like for use as one of the supports of the balustrade. The post includes a pair of opposite side walls each having an undercut groove formed lengthwise thereon. A pair of brackets of identical construction are provided separately, each comprising a mounting plate at one end and a pair of clamping jaws at the other end for engaging the post therebetween. The mounting plates of the brackets can be screwed to the window frame, and the post engaged between the clamping jaws of each bracket is connected thereto by a bolt inserted into and through a hole in each jaw and secured by a nut received in one of the undercut grooves of the post.

  • Patent number: 3975000
Abstract: A balustrade having a series of balusters connected to both top and bottom rails or, if desired, to a top rail only is disclosed which can be completed by assembling standardized parts. The top and bottom rails each includes a horizontal baluster mounting plate facing inwardly, and this mounting plate has an aperture extending along one of the longitudinal edges thereof and a series of longitudinally spaced recesses open to the aperture. The end portions of the balusters are inserted into the respective recesses of the mounting plate, either directly or via the aperture. Means are provided in several forms of construction for locking the baluster end portions within the recesses. The aperture can be closed by a separate filler plate, which is adaptable either to snap into position in the aperture or to slide longitudinally therein.
