  • Patent number: 5160588
Abstract: An improved process for recovering tellurium from copper electrolysis slime. The process comprises leaching copper and tellurium from said slime with sulfuric acid and recovering tellurium from the solution after leaching (called "leach") by suspending at least one copper electrode plate in a bath of a leach, allowing tellurium to deposit on the surface thereof as copper telluride, agitating the bath as required so as to remove the copper telluride formed on the surface of the copper plates and allow it to settle, collecting the copper telluride precipitate and obtaining tellurium by means known per se. A high grade copper tellurium precipitate is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5062614
Abstract: There are provided an apparatus and a method for manufacturing a copper-base alloy. The apparatus includes an alloying spout, at least one feeder and a tundish. The tundish is inclined downwardly from one end toward the other end for flowing a molten copper therethrough. The feeder is connected to the alloying spout for introducing at least one solid solute constituent into the alloying spout. The method includes the steps of providing the above apparatus, continuously introducing the molten copper from the inlet into the passageway of the alloying spout and causing the molten copper to flow downwardly through the passageway to the outlet, and continuously introducing the solid solute constitutent into the passageway of the alloying spout through the feeder to mix the solute constituent with the molten copper to produce the copper-base alloy.

  • Patent number: 4831250
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting defects on a bottle mouth having a screw thread has an illuminating unit for applying light to the mouth of a bottle under rotation; a photoelectric conversion unit for photoelectrically converting a light transmitted image of the bottle mouth illuminated with light by the illuminating unit into electric signals; a defect detecing unit for detecting a defect within a predetermined area in the light transmitted image photoelectrically converted by the photoelectric conversion unit, based on the brightness at predtermined at-least two points in a predetermined detection direction within the area; and a judge unit for calculating the number of defects detected by the defect detecting unit and judging the presence of any defect of the bottle mouth based on the number of defects. The apparatus detects defect points from the light transmitted image of the bottle mouth and judges based on the number of defect points whether or not there is a defect of a bottle.

  • Patent number: 3972691
Abstract: A method for recovering chlorine from a chlorine-containing gaseous mixture containing carbon dioxide which comprises the steps of cooling said mixture in a rectification column of total-reflux type to prepare liquid chlorine, then subjecting the liquid chlorine to temperature control, whereby liquid chlorine of high purity is recovered in high yield.
