  • Patent number: 8337062
Abstract: An LED lighting unit, and a vehicle lamp using the LED lighting unit can have a favorable light distribution that can be perceived as a single, integrated lighting surface. The LED lighting unit can include a plurality of base boards, a plurality of LED light sources located on each mounting surface of the base boards, a plurality of parabolic reflectors and at least one V-shaped reflector configured to locate between the adjacent parabolic reflectors. Because each of the LED light sources is located substantially at each focus of the parabolic reflectors and the at least one V-shaped reflector, light emitted from the LED light sources can be illuminated as a single, integrated light via their reflectors. Thus, a vehicle lamp using the LED lighting unit can have a favorable light distribution that can be perceived as a single, integrated lighting surface and which can be used for a headlight, a tail lamp, etc.

  • Patent number: 5517399
Abstract: A power supply with a full-wave rectifier and a chopper having an inductor and a transistor connected in series across the rectifier. The transistor is switched on and off providing an interrupted voltage which is applied across a smoothing capacitor, via a blocking diode, to produce a smoothed DC voltage for driving a load. When the transistor is turned on, current from the rectifier is drawn through the inductor. When the transistor is turned off, the current through the inductor is conducted, in a positive direction, to the smoothing capacitor. The inductor and parasitic capacitance inherently present in the chopper create oscillations which allow current to flow through the inductor in a negative direction.

  • Patent number: 5406471
Abstract: An AC-to-DC converter for providing a step-down output DC voltage from an AC voltage source. The converter includes a rectifier connected to the AC voltage source to provide therefrom a rectified DC voltage to a step-up chopper. The chopper includes an inductor and a switching element which is connected in series with the inductor across the rectifier and which is driven to periodically turn on and off so as to store into the inductor an energy from the rectified DC voltage when the switching element is turned on and to release the energy from the inductor through a blocking diode to a charge-pump circuit when the switching element is turned off. The charge-pump circuit is connected to receive the energy released from the inductor as well as from the rectifier to accumulate a first voltage and provides a divided voltage of the first voltage to charge a smoothing capacitor by the divided voltage so as to develop thereat the step-down output DC voltage for driving a load.

  • Patent number: 5182702
Abstract: An inverter device has a full-wave rectifier providing a pulsating DC voltage from an input AC voltage, a smoothing circuit. The smoothing circuit includes a choke coil, a smoothing capacitor and a switching element chopping the pulsating DC voltage through the choke coil into a smoothed DC voltage at the smoothing capacitor. An inverter is included to have the element common to the smoothing circuit and operating to switch the smoothed DC voltage to apply a resulting voltage to a load circuit including a load, inductance and capacitor. The inductance and capacitor define an oscillation circuit providing to the load an oscillating current composed of first and second currents of opposite directions. The oscillating current alternating to flow for a nominal on-time duration determined by a circuit constant of the oscillation circuit itself.

  • Patent number: 4682072
Abstract: The present invention provides a headlamp for a vehicle wherein a reflector is different in focal position of a paraboloidal surface between an upper surface and a lower surface thereof, a focal point on the lower surface side is formed to be positioned forwardly more than a length of a sub-filament from a focal point on the upper surface side, and the sub-filament is positioned between both the focal points to thereby efficiently utilize luminescense and obtain a light distribution pattern of high luminous intensity.
