  • Patent number: 5941626
Abstract: A long light emitting apparatus is durable, emits light that can be seen from any direction, and has a low power consumption. The long light emitting apparatus is realized by providing a plurality of LED lamps (light emitting diodes) connected in series at intervals on a connection line. The LED lamp includes an epoxy resin bulb-shaped portion, two leads, and an LED chip connected to the two leads and embedded into the bulb-shaped portion. The surface of the bulb-shaped portion is etched, cut, cut like a diamond, coated with small particles, or covered with an optically-diffusing material so that the emitted light can be diffused and emitted in all directions except backward from the base of the LED lamp. The thus processed surface of the LED lamp can emit light in all directions to be seen from any direction as in the case where filament lamps are used. Since an LED element is used as a light source and the LED lamps are made of resin, the LED lamp is durable.

  • Patent number: 5931570
Abstract: An LED lamp according to the present invention emits light approximately in all directions like a small filament lamp. The LED lamp is a light emitting bulb-shaped unit, and comprises an epoxy resin bulb-shaped portion; two leads of which one end is extended outside the bulb-shaped portion and the other end is embedded in the bulb-shaped portion; and an LED chip connected to the ends of the two leads and embedded in the bulb-shaped portion. The surface of the bulb-shaped portion of the LED lamp is formed in an appropriate process to be a frosted glass surface, a cut-diamond surface, a surface covered with small particles, or an optically-diffusing cap. Thus, a durable, non-fragile, and small power-consuming LED lamp can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5769533
Abstract: A flexible illumination tape is provided with the emission from a number of luminous objects directed in a fixed direction. It comprises a long taping material of synthetic polyamide resin, etc., a plurality of luminous elements comprising luminous diodes, etc. mounted along the longer direction of the taping material, and an electric conductor of copper foil, etc. applied to both sides of the taping material. The plurality of luminous elements are mounted with the emission set in a fixed direction along the shorter direction of the taping material. Two input terminals span the taping material. The input terminals having the same polarity are soldered onto the same electric conductor so that they are connected in parallel. The illumination tape is flexible in making a sharp curve, refraction, etc.

  • Patent number: 5155669
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed that includes a plurality of conductors arranged in parallel, and a plurality of multi-light emitting diodes. One terminal of each of the multi-light emitting diodes is conected to one of the conductors, and the other terminal of each is connected to another conductor. The multi-light emitting diodes include a plurality of light emitting diodes which are connected in series or in parallel and are molded integrally, and are spaced at intervals in the longitudinal direction of the conductors. A flexible insulator covers the conductive portions of the multi-light emitting diodes. The conductors enable an electric current to pass to the multi-light emitting diodes to emit light. The apparatus is very flexible and compact, and can be powered by a portable power source.
