  • Publication number: 20110300043
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method for removing carbon dioxide in an exhaust gas utilizing seawater includes: blowing ammonia into seawater to produce ammonia-saturated seawater; contacting an exhaust gas under a state of non-heat with the ammonia-saturated seawater so that carbon dioxide in the exhaust gas is absorbed in the ammonia-saturated seawater; and splaying a solution containing sodium hydrogen carbonate and ammonium chloride which are produced through absorption of the carbon dioxide by the ammonia-saturated seawater utilizing pressure of the exhaust gas while cooling the solution utilizing heat of evaporation of a solvent of the solution so as to settle out and recover the sodium hydrogen carbonate and the ammonium chloride.

  • Publication number: 20070238611
Abstract: The carbon dioxide absorbent contains a lithium-containing oxide, an alkali halide, has a high carbon dioxide absorption capability, and sufficiently maintains the carbon dioxide absorption capability even in repeated used for absorption and desorption of carbon dioxide.

  • Publication number: 20070092435
Abstract: A method for manufacturing hydrogen includes supplying ethanol to a reactor which is filled with a reforming catalyst and a carbon dioxide absorbent containing a lithium composite oxide, and heating the reactor under the condition that the inside thereof is pressurized to 3 to 15 atm to carry out water-vapor reforming of the ethanol.

  • Patent number: 6998050
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of treating fats and oils containing low concentrations of aromatic halogen compounds and other contaminants by contacting the fats or oils with an adsorbing agent. The adsorbing agent contains a porous body and a non-protonic polar solvent held in the interiors of fine pores in the porous body to adsorb the contaminants. In one embodiment, the porous body also carries noble metal fine particles. In another embodiment, the adsorbing body comprises a solid acid for adsorbing the contaminants and there is a step of contacting the adsorbing body with an organic solvent to extract the adsorbed contaminants into the organic solvent.

  • Patent number: 6172275
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for pyrolytically decomposing waste plastic which may contain halogen-containing polymer such as PVC. The plastic is heated at 270° to 350° C., whereby a plasticizer contained in the plastic material is decomposed and vaporized, and a chlorine-containing polymer is dechlorinated to produce hydrogen chloride. The vaporized decomposition matter and the hydrogen chloride are removed from the plastic, and the vaporized decomposition matter is separated from the hydrogen chloride. Then isolated plastic is further heated to 450° C. or higher to produce a pyrolysis product. Alternatively, the former heating step is divided into two steps of: heating at a temperature lower than 270° C., whereby a plasticizer is decomposed; and heating to 270° to 350° C., whereby a chlorine-containing polymer contained in the plastic material is dechlorinated. Accordingly, the decomposition matter of plasticizer and hydrogen chloride are separately removed from the plastic.

  • Patent number: 5608136
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for pyrolytically decomposing waste plastic, e.g. PVC, to recover light fuel oil. The invention enables to prevent the product from contamination by halogen compounds. The plastic is first thermally decomposed in an atmosphere of a normal or reduced pressure to produce a primary decomposition product in the form of gas and a decomposition residue. The primary decomposition product is cooled at a first cooling temperature to separate the primary decomposition product into a relatively light fraction containing a desired light constituent and a relatively heavy fraction by condensation of the relatively heavy fraction, and the relatively heavy fraction is then thermally decomposed in an atmosphere pressurized at a predetermined pressure to produce a secondary decomposition product containing the desired light constituent in the form of gas.
