  • Patent number: 4387884
Abstract: A structure of the oxygen passage in a steel converter supporting trunnion comprises a hollow chamber provided where a trunnion shaft projects from a trunnion ring. In the hollow chamber is inserted a hermetic manifold, to which a horizontal pipe communicating with a rotary joint and a vertical pipe communicating with an oxygen tuyere in the bottom of the converter vessel are welded. Inside the manifold, there is fitted a communicating member containing a bend-like passage through which the horizontal and vertical pipes communicate with each other.

  • Patent number: 4325540
Abstract: An apparatus for supplying fluids to a converter has a rotary joint coupled to a trunnion shaft, one end of the rotary joint being connected to fluid supply pipes and the other end to fluid conduits communicating with tuyeres at the bottom of the converter. The rotary joint comprises a fixed casing and a rotary assembly, that is sealedly and rotatably fitted in the casing and connected to the trunnion shaft. The rotary assembly has a cylindrical member fitting in the casing. A plurality of axially spaced, circular communication grooves are provided in at least one of the internal surface of the casing and the external surface of the cylindrical member. The cylindrical member is provided with a passageway which opens into the communication grooves at one end and into the atmosphere where the cylindrical member emerges outside the casing at the other.

  • Patent number: 4226563
Abstract: An automatic article-laying apparatus is positioned at the terminal end of a horizontally rotatable conveyor. The apparatus comprises a rotatable roller conveyor, a hydraulic drive to horizontally rotate the roller conveyor, a traversing plate, and a reciprocating head. Placed adjacent to the first-mentioned conveyor, the roller conveyor is horizontally rotatable and carries an article holder that projects sidewards, below the plane on which articles are conveyed, so as to contact the side of the previously laid article. Positioned close and parallel to the roller conveyor, the traversing plate pushes an article away from the roller conveyor, at right angles to the direction of conveyor travel and toward the article holder. Extending along the roller conveyor and behind the article holder, the reciprocating head pushes forward the article delivered from the roller conveyor in the direction of conveyor travel. With this apparatus, hexahedral articles can be laid in an exactly geometrical pattern.
