  • Publication number: 20250376694
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel tomato plants having improved resistance to lesion-forming pathogens. The present invention further relates to plant parts and seeds derived from said tomato plants, and to methods of making said tomato plants or increasing resistance to lesion-forming pathogens in a tomato plant. Further aspects of the invention relate to modified Pub21 nucleic acid and Pub21 protein sequences, and to the combination of modified Pub21 and Pub17 nucleic acid and Pub21 and Pub17 protein sequences, which are associated with such improved resistance to lesion-forming pathogens.

  • Publication number: 20250212745
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel tomato plants having improved resistance to lesion-forming pathogens caused by a reduced level, activity, or expression of Pub17 protein. The level, activity, or expression of a Pub17 protein can be reduced by modification of the Pub17 allele to contain an SNP identified to associate with increased resistance to lesion-forming pathogens. The present invention further relates to plant parts and seeds derived from said tomato plants, and to methods of making said tomato plants or increasing resistance to lesion-forming pathogens in a tomato plant, as well as use of the SNP as a marker and associated kits.

  • Patent number: 10378025
Abstract: Molecular markers are described for determining the presence or absence of a gene conferring resistance to tomato yellow leaf curl virus from S. chilense (Ty-1) in a host plant. Also described, are methods for producing a host plant comprising a gene conferring resistance to tomato yellow leaf curl virus from S. chilense (Ty-1), including the analysis of the presence or absence of the molecular markers. A plant, and parts thereof, obtained by such a method are also described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 2012
Date of Patent: August 13, 2019
Assignees: WAGENINGEN UNIVERSITEIT, UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA RESEARCH FOUNDATION, INC.
