  • Publication number: 20070037703
Abstract: In the method of manufacturing a honeycomb catalyst, the end surface of a honeycomb carrier is immersed in a slurry containing a ceramic powder in a reservoir tank. The slurry is pressed into part of cells of the honeycomb carrier while pressing the end surface of the honeycomb carrier against a bottom surface of the reservoir tank. The honeycomb carrier with the slurry pressed into said part of the cells is separated from the reservoir tank. The slurry attached to the end surface of the honeycomb carrier is removed.

  • Publication number: 20070001349
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a honeycomb structure according to an embodiment of the present invention is characterized by including the steps of: forming a clay by mixing and kneading a silicon carbide powder raw material, a metal silicon raw material, an organic binder, and a raw material containing alkaline earth metal; forming the clay to form a formed body; and pre-firing and firing the formed body, wherein firing is performed in a protective container made of silicon carbide in which a solid containing aluminum is placed.

  • Publication number: 20060145402
Abstract: A manufacturing method of a ceramic structure of the present invention includes the steps of: forming a green body, which results from mixing and kneading materials obtained as a consequence of adding a silicon metal and an organic binder to a silicon carbide powder material; forming a formed body by molding the obtained green body; prefiring the formed body; and placing the formed body (1) after prefiring on a layer formed by a refractory firing powder (4) having a silicon metal and firing the formed body after prefiring. Adhesion of the fired body after the firing and the refractory firing powder (4) is suppressed, and evaporation of the silicon metal from the fired body is prevented.

  • Patent number: 6803086
Abstract: There are provided a porous honeycomb structure body capable of satisfying a pressure loss and isostatic strength which are mutually contradictory properties simultaneously and a method for manufacturing the same. In a porous honeycomb structure body having partition walls which contain cordierite as a primary crystal phase and have a porosity of 40 to 75% and an average pore diameter of 10 to 50 &mgr;m, porosity and an average pore diameter in a center portion of the structure body are made larger than porosity and an average pore diameter in a peripheral portion of the structure body.
