Patent number: 11951266Abstract: A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter that includes a distal end, a proximal end, and an inner surface forming a lumen. The lumen may extend between the proximal end and the distal end. The catheter assembly may also include a cannula and a cannula hub. The cannula hub may include an outer portion disposed outside of the catheter adapter and an inner portion disposed within the catheter adapter. The cannula may extend distally from the inner portion. In response to the outer portion sliding proximally along an outer surface of the catheter adapter, the cannula may be withdrawn proximally into the catheter adapter. The outer portion may be configured to slide proximally to a locked position in which the cannula hub is locked with respect to the catheter adapter, and a distal tip of the cannula is disposed within the catheter adapter.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2020Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Toe Toe Naing, Yun Hui Wong, Kiat Jin Cheng

Patent number: 11628273Abstract: A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, which may include a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The distal end may include a catheter configured to be inserted into vasculature of a patient. The catheter assembly may also include a septum, which may be disposed within the lumen of the catheter adapter. The septum may be secured within the lumen in response to increased pressure by one or more of the following: one or more septum stoppers, a retention disc of a needle assembly, a U-shaped washer, and a conical washer.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2019Date of Patent: April 18, 2023Assignee: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: YingYong Hu, Kiat Jin Cheng, Yun Hui Wong, S. Publication number: 20210379339Abstract: A catheter system may include a catheter adapter, which may include a body and a nose extending distally from the body. The nose may be generally cylindrical. A strain relief rib may be disposed on the nose. The strain relief rib may be constructed of a flexible material. A bump may be disposed on the strain relief rib and configured to contact a needle cover. A catheter may be secured within the catheter adapter and extend distally beyond the nose.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2021Publication date: December 9, 2021Inventors: Yun Hui Wong, Ralph L. Sonderegger, Shaun Staley

Publication number: 20210316129Abstract: A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, which may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending between the distal end and the proximal end. The catheter assembly may include a push tab. The push tab may be pivotally coupled to the catheter adapter. The push tab may be pivotally moveable between a raised position and a depressed position. The catheter assembly may include another push tab, which may be resilient and may include a first end, a second end, and an arced portion between the first end and the second end. The other tab push tab may be configured to move from a raised position to a depressed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2021Publication date: October 14, 2021Inventors: Yun Hui Wong, Kiat Jin Cheng
