  • Patent number: 8059098
Abstract: An electronic device with automatic switching input interfaces and a switching method thereof. The electronic device supports an Advanced Configuration Power Interface (ACPI), and includes a display unit, a storage unit, a memory unit, and an embedded controller. The display unit can be changed to a first position or a second position, and sends a signal to an embedded control unit when the display unit is at different positions. A management program running in the electronic device queries the ACPI and the embedded control unit to check the position and state of the display unit, so as to automatically load and run a corresponding program of a virtual input interface or a physical input interface into the memory unit, and remove the other program from the memory unit at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20090271599
Abstract: A method for setting to enable or disable a software function is provided. The method is suitable for setting each hardware relevant software function in a system to either “enable” or “disable.” First, a customized database, which includes a specification required data of the hardware to decide to enable or disable the relevant software function, is established. Then, the specification required data is read from the customized database. Afterwards, a hardware configuration key is established according to the specification required data. Finally, the hardware configuration key is written to a registry of the system, so as to set the software function to either “enable” or “disable” according to the registry.

  • Publication number: 20090094550
Abstract: A zooming method of a display image of an electronic device for zooming in a designated area of a portable electronic device. The zooming method includes the following steps setting a hot key combination, and loading a trigger event of the hot key into a Windows operating system as a monitor event; detecting the trigger event of an input device; if the Windows operating system detects the trigger event of the hot key, the Windows operating system executing a zooming process of the Windows operating system, so as to zoom in or zoom out the display image. Thus, a same set of hot key signals can be used to zoom in/out the designated area in different applications.

  • Publication number: 20090055653
Abstract: A computerized data management method and a computerized data management system using the same are provided. The computerized data management method is used for encrypting/decrypting a digital data of an electronic device. The computerized data management method comprises the following steps. Firstly, a user's facial characteristic is captured. Next, whether the user's facial characteristic matches with an encrypting-permission user's facial characteristic stored in a database is determined in an encrypting process. If the user's facial characteristic matches with the encrypting-permission user's facial characteristic stored in the database, then the user is allowed to encrypt a digital data. Then, whether the user's facial characteristic matches with a facial characteristic of a decrypting-permission user corresponding a digital data is determined in a decrypting process.

  • Publication number: 20090055923
Abstract: An operating system login method and an electronic device using the same are provided. The operating system login method comprises the following steps. Firstly, a facial characteristic of a user is captured. Next, whether the facial characteristic of the user is stored in a database is determined. If the facial characteristic is stored in the database, then a login user's account number and password are automatically read from the database. Then, whether the login user's account number and password pass verification is determined. If the user's account number and password pass verification, then the user is allowed to login the operating system.

  • Publication number: 20050231087
Abstract: A direct backlight module and liquid crystal display utilizing the same. The direct backlight module comprises a reflector, at least one light source, and a plurality of transparent supports. The reflector has an opening, and the light source is disposed parallel to the reflector. The transparent supports are disposed at each end of the light source to secure the light source. Thus, light emitted from the light source can be reflected by the reflector.

  • Publication number: 20050169013
Abstract: A backlight module and a liquid crystal display utilizing the same. The backlight module has a heat-dissipating port and a thermally actuated device disposed therein. When the temperature inside the backlight module exceeds a predetermined limit, the thermally actuated device starts to open the heat-dissipating port. When the temperature inside the backlight module drops below the predetermined limit, the thermally actuated device closes the heat-dissipating port. The extent of the port controlled by the thermally actuated device varies with the temperature inside the backlight module.

  • Patent number: 6872662
Abstract: A method for detecting the endpoint of a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process uses the slope variation of temperature difference of polishing pad. The method combines temperature measurement at polishing pad and atmosphere, and numerical analysis to figure out the curve of temperature difference variation versus polishing time. The endpoint of CMP is determined by the change of the slope of the curve. The method allows endpoint to be detected in-situ at the polishing apparatus, without stopping polishing process.
