  • Patent number: 10640917
Abstract: An aqueous blend of an azetidinium functionalized polymer and a polymer having quaternary amine groups is disclosed for use as aqueous pretreatment for substrates such as textiles and garments that are going to be digitally printed. The pretreatment may further comprise wetting agents, surfactants, and preservatives. The pretreatment may be dry or wet immediately prior to digital printing and may be heat treated to bond the pretreatment to the substrate and/or the subsequent print ink.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 20, 2014
Date of Patent: May 5, 2020
    Assignee: LUBRIZOL ADVANCED MATERIALS, INC.
Inventors: Yun-Long Pan, Gary A. Anderle, Stacy L. Rohde
  • Publication number: 20170233595
Abstract: Polymer dispersions in aqueous media form binders for pretreatments, coatings and images on substrates. The polymer includes polyamide segments and may have a high percentage of tertiary amide linkages, which facilitates film formation at temperature convenient to textiles and nonwovens. The polyamides are linked with reactions with polyisocyanates (which forms urea linkages if the other reactant is an amine or a urethane linkage if the other reactant is a hydroxyl group).

  • Publication number: 20170058453
Abstract: An aqueous polymer dispersion with nonionic colloidal stabilization, polyvalent metal ion, coagulating acid, and an optional mono or polyhydric alcohols and/or alkylene-oxide oligomers (humectants or surface tension modifiers), and optional surfactant are disclosed for use as pretreatment for substrates such as textiles and garments.

  • Publication number: 20150299948
Abstract: An aqueous cationic polyurethane dispersion, coagulating acids, and a reactive crosslinking moiety are disclosed for use as pretreatment for digital printing on substrates such as textiles and garments. The pretreatment comprises a polyurethane having properly positioned tertiary amino groups, generally protonated or quaternized, in combination with a reactive crosslinker, coagulating acid, and some di- or polyvalent metal ions.
