  • Patent number: 8374787
Abstract: A mobile navigation device operating in a first mode and a second mode is provided. In the first mode, a satellite positioning module is activated while a dead reckoning module is disabled. A processor calculates the coordinates of the mobile navigation device based on the satellite navigation signals received by the satellite positioning module. In the second mode, the satellite positioning module is disabled while the dead reckoning module is activated, and the processor updates the coordinates based on displacements and rotations detected by the dead reckoning module.

  • Patent number: 8319748
Abstract: A touch panel and an output method therefor are disclosed. The touch panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, spacers, and a controller set. The first substrate is flexible and has a first electrode layer. The second substrate has a second electrode layer facing the first electrode layer. The spacers are configured between the first and the second substrates. The controller set electrically connects to the first and the second electrode layers to provide a first operation mode and a second operation mode. The controller set can apply a uniform voltage drop electrical field on the first electrode layer or the second electrode layer, so that a resistive touch panel configuration is formed during the first operation mode. The controller set can also apply a uniform electrical field on the first electrode layer, so that a capacitive touch panel configuration is formed during the second operation mode.

  • Publication number: 20050190160
Abstract: A keyboard with multifunction keys on a panel of a handheld electronic device is provided. The multifunction keys are set in a transverse, tilted or vertical direction and used for typewriting. Each multifunction key has a linear configuration and comprises three symbols such that depressing a central part of the key inputs a first symbol and depressing one end of the key inputs a second symbol while depressing the other end of the key inputs a third symbol. Therefore, the number of keys as well as the total area occupied by the keys on the handheld electronic device can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5835346
Abstract: A low profile personal computer includes an enclosure having a bottom wall. A riser card including functional circuitry extends vertically from the bottom wall and partitions the enclosure into first and second regions. A motherboard is positioned within the first region of the enclosure along the bottom wall and adjacent to the riser card for interfacing with the riser card. A series of horizontal option card interfaces are located above each other on the riser card within the first region of the enclosure each for interfacing with a corresponding option card and to position the option cards horizontally over the motherboard. The horizontal option card interfaces are capable of interfacing with a maximum of three option cards at the same time. The functional circuitry on the riser card minimizes the number of option cards which enables the overall height of the enclosure to be minimized.
