Abstract: A method of efficiently managing a, Digital Rights Management (DRM) rights object in a low-performance storage device, which includes causing a host apparatus to divide a DRM rights object into two or more blocks each having a size proportional to an access unit of a low-performance storage device, and transmitting the divided two or more blocks to the low-performance storage device. The access unit is a unit of data reading or data storage in the low-performance storage device.

Abstract: A digital rights management method and device are provided. To implement the DRM method and device, there is provided a master device including a storage module which stores a plurality of rights objects (ROs) having an inheritance structure, a detection module which detects the storage module for an RO needed for playing back a predetermined content object, a message generation module which, if the detection module fails to discover the RO needed for playing back the predetermined content object from the storage module, generates an RO request message, a device interface module which transmits the RO request message to a slave device and receives the RO needed for playing back the predetermined content object from the slave device, and a playback module which plays back the predetermined content object using at least one of the RO detected from the storage module and the RO received from the slave device.

Abstract: A method for extending a secure area in a portable storage device and the portable storage device therefore are provided. The method includes allocating a secure area for storing data to be received within an insecure area, sending position information regarding the secure area allocated within the insecure area to a host device, receiving the position information and data to be stored in the secure area from a secure application of the host device, and encrypting and storing the data in the insecure area based on the position information.

Abstract: A method for moving a rights object (RO) between devices, a method of using a content object based on the moving method, and devices using the methods are provided. The moving method includes performing authentication between two devices; securing a connection between the devices; and communicating the rights object between the two devices. The using method includes two devices communicating with each other, the first device having use permission of content objects and the second device including the content objects and corresponding rights objects; the first device searching for the content objects; and the first device using the content object that was found. The device includes an authentication module to authenticate another device; a security formation module to secure a connection for the other device; and a transceiving module which communicates a rights object for which the connection has been secured.

Abstract: A focusing apparatus and a lithography system using the same capable of adjusting a uniformity of an electromagnetic field by moving a portion of a magnetic field generator. The focusing apparatus may control a path of an electron beam generated from an electron-beam emitter of the lithography system. In the focusing apparatus, a uniformity of the magnetic field in the vacuum chamber may be adjusted through movement of the portion of the magnetic field generator with respect to the vacuum chamber.

Abstract: A digital rights management (DRM) device and method are provided. The DRM device includes a storage module which stores a rights object (RO) having predetermined meta information, a control module which provides meta information of ROs stored in the storage module when an RO detection request is input, and an integrity check module which maintains integrity of the meta information.

Abstract: A host device, a portable storage device, and a method of updating an RO stored in the portable storage device are provided. The method includes receiving a predetermined bitmap from a host device, performing a bitwise operation on the received bitmap and meta information indicating a state of the RO, and updating the meta information using a result of the bitwise operation.

Abstract: A method for searching a portable storage device for a rights object by using an identifier of the rights object, including a host device accessing the portable storage device, retrieving the identifier of the stored rights object from the portable storage device, storing the retrieved object identifier, searching for the stored object identifier to perform an operation associated with the rights object stored in the portable storage device, and acquiring location data of the rights object as a result of the searching.

The method includes: accessing the portable storage device; transmitting an object identifier to the portable storage device; receiving a location data of a first object searched based on the object identifier from the portable storage device; storing the location data of the first object with the object identifier; and transmitting the location data of the first object and an operation data representing operations to be performed with the first object to the portable storage device by using the location data of the first object.

The apparatus for processing a digital rights object includes a transmitting/receiving module for receiving the rights object expressed in a Markup language from a rights issuer, a rights object converting module for converting the rights object into a frame having a format for communicating with a portable storage device, an interface for connecting with the portable storage device, and a control module for providing the frame to the portable storage device through the interface and receiving the converted format of the rights object from the portable storage device through the interface.

The device includes a transceiver module receiving a RO from a rights issuer, an RO converter module converting the RO received by the transceiver module into a format for communication with a portable storage, an interface module for connection with the portable storage, a public-key encryption module authenticating with the portable storage connected through the interface module, a session key generation module generating a session key shared with the authenticated portable storage, and a digital rights management (DRM) agent providing the RO in the format converted by the RO converter module to the portable storage and receiving a RO in the converted format from the portable storage. The device converts the format of the RO to communicate with the portable storage.

The method includes transmitting a predetermined request from the device to the portable storage, generating a current permission status format including information of a rights object designated by the request, using the portable storage, and transmitting the current permission status format from the portable storage to the device. According to the method and apparatus, overhead is reduced and information transmission speed is increased when the rights object information is transmitted between the device and the portable storage.

A device requests information regarding a rights object from a portable storage device, receives the information regarding the rights object from the portable storage device, and removes an unnecessary rights object.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for copying or moving a rights object having right information regarding digital contents between a device and a portable storage device to copy or move the digital contents there between are provided. According to the method and apparatus, the digital works can be prevented from being recklessly and randomly copied and moved, and therefore, copyright can be protected. In addition, data loss or unauthorized access can be prevented.

Abstract: A digital rights management (DRM) structure, a portable storage device, and a contents management method using the portable storage device are provided to facilitate the move of a rights object or encrypted content. The digital rights management structure includes a security section comprising private key information and cryptographic method which are needed to decrypt information that has been encrypted by a host device, a restriction section comprising authentication information needed for authentication with the host device and rights object information regarding content, and a data section comprising encrypted content which the host device attempts accessing.
