  • Patent number: 8990031
Abstract: The invention provides a torsional resonance frequency measuring device and method applicable to a large-scale power generating equipment or a traction motor equipment with a rotating shaft, such as a large power grid-tied wind turbine. The invention is characterized by employing a machine-side converter existing in the grid-tied wind turbine to output direct currents to a three-phase PMSG (permanent magnet synchronous generator), such that a pulse torque is generated to mechanically excite a rotor of the three-phase PMSG. Afterwards, a control circuit of the machine-side converter acquires back electromotive force generated by the mechanically excited rotor so as to calculate the torsional resonance frequency of the overall drive-chain system according to the frequency spectrum of the back electromotive force.

  • Publication number: 20130170988
Abstract: A wind turbine system includes a nacelle, a generator, a central control module, an impeller, a transmission module, a speed sensor module, a pitch angle driving module, a hub controller and a slip-ring apparatus. The hub controller receives a first pitch command from the central control module or generates a second pitch command according to a rotation speed of a hub sensed by the speed sensor module. If the first pitch command is correct, the hub controller transmits the first pitch command to the pitch angle driving module. If not, the hub controller transmits the second pitch command to the pitch angle driving module. The pitch angle driving module controls a pitch angle of at least one blade after receiving the pitch command, so that the wind turbine system works. Therefore, the wind turbine system has a distributed control function and a redundancy capability.

  • Patent number: 8303256
Abstract: A blade pitch driving apparatus of a wind-driven generator and a driving method therefor are adapted to receive an external electrical power and impel a blade toward a corresponding pitch angle according to a pitch command. The apparatus includes an UPS, a permanent magnet synchronous motor drive (PMSM drive), an AC pitch motor (ACPM) and a hub controller. The hub controller normally switches the external power to the PMSM drive, receives the pitch command and control the ACPM to impel the blade toward the corresponding pitch angle. When the PMSM drive fails or the external electrical power is interrupted, the hub controller switches the electrical power of the UPS to the ACPM and controls the blade being impelled toward a feathered position.

  • Patent number: 7518257
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hybrid power-generating device and a power generating method thereof. The hybrid power-generating device is primarily comprised of: a primary electrical generator and an auxiliary electrical generator with different characteristics, both mechanically coupled to a prime while enabling the rated power of the auxiliary electrical generator to be smaller than that of the primary electrical generator; wherein, as the prime is operating at a low rotation speed or at its initial operating stage, the auxiliary electrical generator is enabled to be driven and activated thereby; and as the operating speed of the driver is stabilized and reaches a predetermined value, the primary electrical generator is then being driven and activated thereby. By the aforesaid hybrid power-generating device, not only the overall performance and the stability of power grid are enhanced, but also the operating cost is reduced.

  • Patent number: 7449794
Abstract: A wind turbine with a self-contained power system is disclosed. The self-contained power system comprises an auxiliary generator with a winding disposed on the rotor side while the magnetic poles of the auxiliary generator are disposed at components moving relatively to the rotation of the rotor. Thereby, a back electromotive force (emf) is generated in the winding due to the relative motion of the winding with respect to the magnetic poles as the rotor is rotating, and consequently the self-contained power system generates electricity to provide the power for driving the rotor to rotate. Therefore, the ability of the wind turbine to operate independently is enhanced since the amount of back-up power supply required is reduced and the structure of the wind turbine is simplified. Therefore the cost of the wind turbine is reduced, and the system reliability is increased.
