    Abstract: Drivers (1) for driving light circuits (2) with light emitting diodes comprise isolation circuits (11-14) with primary parts (11,13) and secondary parts (12, 14) and guiding circuits (22, 23) for guiding common mode surge signals to reference potentials. The isolation circuits (11-14) may be designed to guide first parts of the common mode surge signals (3) away from the light circuits (2) and the guiding circuits (22, 23) may be designed to guide second parts of the common mode surge signals (3) away from the light circuits (2), the second parts being smaller than the first parts. The guiding circuit (22, 23) may comprise capacitors (22) for connecting first terminals of the secondary parts (12, 14) to the reference potentials, values of the capacitors (22) being larger than values of parasitic capacitances (41) of the isolation circuits (11-14). The driver (1) does not comprise any capacitor that interconnects the primary and secondary parts (11-14).

    Abstract: The invention relates to N-heterocyclic substituent-containing antibiotics, their preparation, and their use. Disclosed are sodium and potassium salts of 7-(?-((N,N?-diisopropylamidino)thio)acetylamino)-3-(((1,2,5,6-tetrahydro-2-methyl-5,6-diox o-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)thio)methyl) cephalosporanic acid as presented by the general structure (I), their preparation, and their use. The antibiotics of the invention can be used to treat diseases caused by Gram-positive or Gram-negative bacteria such as septicaemia, gastrointestinal tract infection, and urinary tract infection. They have increased half-life in blood and lowered toxicity. They can reduce the frequency of drug use and lower medical treatment costs. They have improved stability and can be stored at ambient temperatures. The method of the invention is simple, and it produces high purity products which can meet the requirements of clinical use.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for processing a pair of 2-D images are described. In one example, a stereoscopic set of images is converted into a collection of regions that represent individual 3-D objects in the pair of images. In one embodiment, the system recovers the 3-D point P for each point p that appears in both images. It estimates the 3-D orientation of the floor plane, and the image capture planes and their height from the floor. The system then identifies the collection B of points P that do not represent points on the floor and generates a projection C of B onto a plane parallel to the floor. It blurs the projection C and identifies peaks in the blurred image, then fits symmetric figures to the points in C around the identified peaks. The system projects the 3-D figures associated with the symmetric figures back onto the 2-D images.

Vertices of the object that are hidden in the image are recovered by using planarity and symmetry constraints. The 3D shape is recovered by maximizing 3D compactness of the recovered object and minimizing its surface area. In some embodiments, these two criteria are weighted by using the geometric mean.

Alternative embodiments extend this to additional polyhedra, add image segmentation, use perspective, and generalize to asymmetric polyhedra and non-polyhedral objects.

The circuit also has a state predictor and an inversion filter that compute a vibration estimate used to detect a vibration in the drive. When a threshold vibration is detected a vibration estimate is combined with the control signal to compensate for the vibration. The circuit detects the vibration without the need for an accelerometer or other sensor.

    Abstract: Methods of controlling seeking of a transducer that is adjacent to a rotatable disk in a disk drive are disclosed. The methods may include accelerating the transducer radially across the rotatable disk from an initial track on the rotatable disk toward a destination track on the rotatable disk, estimating a deceleration switching position/velocity point, estimating a maximum deceleration position/velocity point following the deceleration switching position/velocity point, and estimating a deceleration current required to decelerate the transducer from a non-zero velocity at the maximum deceleration position/velocity point to zero velocity at the destination track. The estimated deceleration current is compared to a maximum available deceleration current, and responsive to a determination that the current required to decelerate the transducer from the maximum deceleration point to the destination track exceeds the maximum available deceleration current, the estimated deceleration switching point is adjusted.

The piezoelectric sensor element is collocated with the piezoelectric actuator element and electrically interconnected to the processor by the sensor signal line. The piezoelectric actuator element is operable to move the at least one transducer relative to a surface of the disk. The piezoelectric sensor element is electrically isolated from the piezoelectric actuator element. A method for detecting a vibration in a hard disk drive actuator assembly is also disclosed.
