  • Publication number: 20130278832
Abstract: The present invention provides a digital TV system comprising a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter comprises an encoder and a combiner. The encoder encodes information of point of interest (POI) into POI packets. The combiner adds the POI packets to vertical blanking intervals (VBIs) of TV data according to synchronous information of the TV data to form the TV signal. The receiver comprises a video decoder, a user interface, and a VBI decoder. The video decoder decodes video data of the TV signal and outputs the decoded video data to a display device. The user interface receives a select signal triggered by a user to select one or more images of the decoded video data upon the decoded video data being displayed on the display device. The VBI decoder determines and decodes a target POI packet from the POI packets according to the selected signal.

Abstract: A positioning apparatus and the associated positioning method are provided. The positioning apparatus includes a wireless communication unit, a storage unit, a positioning module and a control unit. The wireless communication unit generates a detection signal. The storage unit coupled to the wireless communication module stores assistance positioning data. The positioning module coupled to the storage unit generates coordinate information according to a satellite signal and the assistance positioning data. The control unit coupled to the wireless communication module, the storage unit and the positioning module determines whether the assistance positioning data is valid. When the assistance positioning data is invalid, the control unit controls the wireless communication module to generate the detection signal.

  • Publication number: 20100208134
Abstract: The present invention provides a digital television (TV) system and receiver which are capable of providing information of point of interest (POI) associated with programs or advertisements. A transmitting end of the digital TV system adds information of a POI included in a digital AV data into the digital AV data, so as to generate a digital AV signal to be transmitted. A receiving end of the digital TV system includes a digital AV receiver and a display device. The digital AV receiver receives and decodes the digital AV signal to generate the information of the POI. The display device displays the information of the POI.

  • Patent number: 7557765
Abstract: A smart antenna with an adjustable radiation pattern is described. A plurality of slot antennas are formed at a metal layer which is grounded, wherein openings of the slot antennas point to different directions. One surface of an insulated layer is covered by the metal layer. A coaxial feeding structure is provided through the insulated layer. A plurality of microstrip lines are formed at the other surface of the insulated layer and can feed the radio frequency signals to the slot antennas, respectively. Pluralities of switches are connected to each microstrip line and the coaxial feeding structure. A plurality of bias circuits are electrically connected to each switch, respectively, to control the status of the switch and adjust the operation statuses of the slot antennas individually to form an adjustable radiation pattern.
