Abstract: An exemplary insert-molded member (10) includes a metallic body (11), a plastic portion (12), and a bonding structure (13, 14, or 15). The metallic body is made of metallic material selected from the group consisting of magnesium alloy, aluminum alloy, and titanium alloy. The plastic portion is integrally formed with the metal body by insert-molding technology. The plastic portion is made of material selected from the group consisting of liquid crystal polymer, polyphenylene sulfide, and polybutylene terephthalate. The bonding structure is formed between the metallic body and the plastic portion. A method for making the method for making insert-molded member is also provided.

Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes a plug connector and a receptacle connector adapted to mate each other. The receptacle connector includes an insulative housing enclosed within a shell. The housing includes a main body with a tongue extending forwardly therefrom. A plurality of signal contacts received within the housing. A pair of power contacts are respectively disposed by two sides of the signal contacts in the housing. The plug connector includes the similar basic structures as the receptacle connector. The pair of power contacts of both the receptacle connector and the plug connector are delicately configured in the limited space in the corresponding connector housing to meet the required characters/qualities while without any interference in either mutually mating or self-assembling.

Abstract: An electrical connector (1) includes an insulative housing (10), and a plurality of first contacts (20) and at least a second contact (30) respectively received within the housing. The first contacts have first body portions (22) aligned with each other within a plane, and the second contact has a second body portion (32). The second body portion is spaced from the plane by the housing. The second contact is thereby able to transfer high electrical power without creating signal interference between the first contacts and the second contact.
