    Abstract: A top-opening substrate carrier comprises a container body, a door member and at least one latching mechanism. The latching mechanism includes a rotary drive member, a first driven cam, a second driven cam, a first connecting rod, a second connecting rod, two longitudinal latching arms and two lateral latching arms. The first driven cam and the second driven cam are disposed at two sides of the rotary drive member. When the rotary drive member is rotated by force, it links and activates the first connecting rod and the second connecting rod to synchronously drive the first driven cam and the second driven cam to rotate, thereby driving the two longitudinal latching arms and the two lateral latching arms to project towards locking holes of the container body and locked, or retract from the locking holes of the container body and unlocked.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a shear deformation-type bimorphic piezoelectric actuator. The actuator includes at least a pair of shear deformation-type piezoelectric ceramic members which are polarized in the height direction thereof, coated with metal electrodes on both sides thereof and attached to opposite sides of a metal block to constitute a piezoelectric bimorph. The ceramic members are forced to undergo a face shear deformation or a resonance deformation upon receiving a driving voltage, whereby the metal block and the output head mounted thereon are driven to generate an elliptical motion, which in turn drives a rotor or a carriage to move. Taking advantage of the small dimension of the ceramic members and the enhanced displacement attributed to the piezoelectric bimorph structure, the piezoelectric actuator disclosed herein is suitable for manufacturing a miniature piezoelectric motor with high power output.

    Abstract: Linked zones define the temporal and spatial relationships among multiple zones of a surveillance area, and are used to model an object's disappearance from one zone, for potential reappearance at another zone. One or more zones are defined within each camera's field of view. Two zones are linked if an object that disappears from one zone is capable of appearing in the other zone. Each link has an associated delay parameter or function that characterizes the time delay, if any, between a disappearance and subsequent appearance. For each zone, a set of other zones that are linked to this zone is maintained. When an object disappears from a zone, the set of other zones that are linked to this zone is used to reduce the search space for object appearances corresponding to this disappearance. When the corresponding object appearance is found, the tracking function is handed-off to the tracking module associated with the zone in which the object appeared.
