Patent number: 7394213Abstract: A multi-lamp driver t disclosed, comprising a power driver coupled to a plurality of lamps to supply power thereto, a feedback circuit coupled to at least one of the lamps to generate a feedback signal, a control circuit coupled between the feedback circuit and the power driver to control the power driver according to an illumination control signal and the feedback signal for total illumination adjustment of the lamps, and at least one switch controlled by the control circuit to turn at least one of the lamps on or off. In a total illumination adjustment of the lamps, the switch turns on or off timely. The difference between the maximum and minimum value of the total illumination of the lamps is thus increased.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2006Date of Patent: July 1, 2008Assignee: QISDA CorporationInventors: Chung-Jung Huang, Yung-Yi Hsu

Publication number: 20080122388Abstract: An illumination device comprises a lamp unit, a control unit, and a continuous mode inverter. The control unit receives a command signal to set the target brightness of the lamp unit and generates an inverter control signal. The inverter control signal is a continuous mode pulse signal when the target brightness is in a first range of target brightness, and is a burst mode pulse signal when the target brightness is in a second range of target brightness. The continuous mode inverter generates a lamp unit control signal based on the inverter control signal. The lamp unit control signal is a continuous mode AC signal when the inverter control signal is the continuous mode pulse signal, and is a burst mode AC signal when the inverter control signal is the burst mode pulse signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2007Publication date: May 29, 2008Inventors: Ping-Chin Kuo, Yung-Yi Hsu

Patent number: 6850014Abstract: A discharge lamp circuit for ignition time control and overvoltage protection. The discharge lamp circuit includes drive circuitry, a sensing circuit, a timing circuit and a start-up circuit. The drive circuitry produces a strike voltage for a discharge lamp and provides a lamp current through the discharge lamp. The sensing circuit is provided to detect the lamp current. During lamp start-up, the timing circuit will develop a threshold voltage at the end of a predetermined period if the discharge lamp has not been lit yet, thereby controlling an ignition time of the drive circuitry. The start-up circuit allows the drive circuitry to keep on applying the strike voltage for the ignition time in order to start the discharge lamp before the threshold voltage is developed. Once the sensing circuit detects the absence of the lamp current, the start-up circuit also causes the drive circuitry shutdown.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2003Date of Patent: February 1, 2005Assignee: Benq CorporationInventors: Chia-Chih Yeh, Yung-Yi Hsu

Patent number: 6693396Abstract: The inventive apparatus includes a switching regulator, a DC-to-AC inverter, and level shifter circuitry. The switching regulator, having a switch, is used to regulate an average magnitude of a low voltage DC signal. The DC-to-AC inverter steps up the low voltage DC signal to a high voltage AC signal applied to the discharge lamp. The inventive apparatus further includes a brightness controller having a brightness table of the relationship between a duty cycle of a dimming control signal and the lamp's current. The level shifter circuitry is coupled between the brightness controller's output and a control terminal of the switch for translating the dimming control signal to a voltage level required for turning on the switch.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2002Date of Patent: February 17, 2004Assignee: Benq CorporationInventor: Yung-Yi Hsu

Publication number: 20040017163Abstract: An apparatus for dimming control of a discharge lamp. The inventive apparatus includes a switching regulator, a DC-to-AC inverter, and level shifter circuitry. The brightness controller varies the duty cycle of the dimming control signal based on the corresponding lamp current in the brightness table. The level shifter circuitry is coupled between the brightness controller's output and a control terminal of the switch for translating the dimming control signal to a voltage level required for turning on the switch.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2002Publication date: January 29, 2004Applicant: BENQ CORPORATIONInventor: Yung-Yi Hsu

Patent number: 6399437Abstract: A method of forming a stacked capacitor having improved capacitance in a dynamic random access memory device is provided wherein and additional pad polysilicon layer is deposited prior to the forming of the capacitor cell contact area such that the side-wall of the capacitor cell can be increased. The increased side-wall thickness of the capacitor cell leads to an improved capacitance value for the cell. The present invention also provides a stacked capacitor formed in a semiconductor device that contains an additional pad polysilicon layer for increasing the thickness of the capacitor side-wall and subsequently its capacitance.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1998Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: Mosel Vitelic, Inc.Inventors: Yung-Yi Hsu, Yi-Tsai Yi, Chia-Shun Hsiao, Ming-Huan Tsai
