Publication number: 20240028072Abstract: A head-mounted device may have a head-mounted housing containing rear-facing displays that display images for a user when the head-mounted housing is worn by the user. The head-mounted device housing may have housing structures such as elongated housing members with protruding posts. A headband may be removably coupled to the head-mounted device housing. The headband may have a strap with openings configured to receive the posts. Releasable latches may be provided to allow selective engagement and disengagement between the headband and the housing. The latches may contain movable latch members that are biased using magnetic biasing mechanisms, spring-based biasing mechanisms, or other biasing mechanisms. To release each latch, a tab, button, toggle lever, slider, or other release mechanisms may be actuated by a user. This moves the movable latch member from a closed latch position to an open latch position that releases the headband from the housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2022Publication date: January 25, 2024Inventors: Toria F. Patent number: 11769616Abstract: Cables are magnetically attracted to magnets in straps and other items such as electronic devices. The cables may contain signal lines to convey power and/or data. Magnetic material that is attracted to magnetic fields may be incorporated into the signal lines and/or other structures in the cables. The straps may have flexible magnets and/or other magnets extending along their lengths. The magnets of the straps create magnetic fields that attract the cables. Electronic devices may also have housings that contain magnets to attract the cables. Using magnetic attraction, cables can be removably attached to straps and other items during operation of an electronic device, thereby helping to prevent tangling of the cables.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2021Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Toria F. Yan, Liam R. Martinez, Yi H. Hsieh, Yunhe Huang, Zebinah P. Masse

Patent number: 9245545Abstract: A method of forming a single layer inductive coil structure includes forming a first conductive coil on a substrate, forming an insulating layer by atomic layer deposition (ALD) over the first coil and the substrate, and forming one or more additional conductive coils on each of adjacent sides of the first coil insulated from the first coil and the substrate by the insulating layer. A method of forming a stacked layer inductive coil includes forming a cavity in a substrate, forming a first coil in the cavity wherein the cavity has an atomic layer deposition (ALD) layer, forming a second coil in the cavity adjacent to the first coil and separated by the ALD layer from the first coil, forming an insulating layer over the first and second coil, and forming a third coil on the insulating layer.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2013Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Assignee: Wester Digital (Fremont), LLCInventors: Ut Tran, Yunhe Huang, Keith Y. Patent number: 9053721Abstract: A magnetic read sensor having a magnetic seed layer, a pinned layer structure formed over the magnetic seed layer, a non-magnetic barrier or spacer layer formed over the pinned layer structure and a magnetic free layer structure formed over the non-magnetic barrier or spacer layer. The pinned layer has a stripe height (measured from the media facing surface) that is greater than a stripe height of the magnetic free layer structure. In addition, the magnetic seed layer structure has a stripe height (also measured from the media facing surface) that is greater than the stripe height of the magnetic pinned layer structure and the magnetic free layer structure. The stripe height of the magnetic seed layer structure can be controlled independently of the stripe heights of the magnetic pinned layer structure and the magnetic free layer structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2014Date of Patent: June 9, 2015Assignee: HGST Netherlands B.V.Inventors: Yongchul Ahn, David P. Patent number: 8628672Abstract: A method for fabricating a magnetic recording transducer having a magnetic writer pole with a short effective throat height is provided. In an embodiment, a writer structure comprising a magnetic writer pole having a trailing bevel and a nonmagnetic stack on the top surface of the writer pole is provided. A dielectric write gap layer comprising alumina is deposited over the trailing bevel section and the nonmagnetic stack; and at least one etch stop layer is deposited over the dielectric write gap layer. A layer of nonmagnetic fill material is deposited over the etch stop layer and to form a nonmagnetic bevel by performing a dry etch process. The etch stop layer(s) are removed from the short throat section; and a trailing shield is deposited over the short throat section, nonmagnetic bevel, and nonmagnetic stack top surface.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2012Date of Patent: January 14, 2014Assignee: Western Digital (Fremont), LLCInventors: Weimin Si, Ying Hong, Zhigang Bai, Yunhe Huang, Fenglin Liu, Hong Zhang, Jikou Zhou, Xiaoyu Yang, Yuan Yao, Iulica Zana, Feng Liu, Ling Wang

Patent number: 8518832Abstract: A process is provided for etching a mask layer and removal of residue from a structure having an area sheltered from directional etching. The structure has a shape that forms a silhouette area obstructed from being etched by anisotropic bombardment originating from a first direction, and a mask formed over the mask layer over the structure; A first etch process removes at least a part of the mask layer and retains at least a part of mask layer in the sheltered area. A second etch process removes at least a part of the mask layer in the sheltered area by hydrogen based microwave plasma etching.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2011Date of Patent: August 27, 2013Assignee: Western Digital (Fremont), LLCInventors: Xiaoyu Yang, Xianzhong Zeng, Yan Chen, Yunhe Huang, Jinqiu Zhang, Yang Xiang, Ching-Huang Lu
