The present method for controlling the electronic device may allow for on the basis of an image obtained by a camera of the electronic device, acquiring information associated with the user, identifying at least one advertisement category among a plurality of advertisement categories; when an event for displaying an advertisement occurs, transmitting information on the at least one advertisement category to an advertisement platform server; and receiving an advertisement in the at least one advertisement category from the advertisement platform server.
