  • Patent number: 8328903
Abstract: A method for determining at least one of an effluent concentration profile, a breakthrough time and a filter cartridge recommendation includes receiving at least one input parameter, determining at least one of the effluent concentration profile, the breakthrough time and the filter cartridge recommendation based on the input parameter, and graphically displaying at least one of the effluent concentration profile, the breakthrough time, and the filter cartridge recommendation. The effluent concentration profile includes a plot of a concentration of a chemical species over a period of time. The breakthrough time includes a time at which a predetermined concentration of the chemical species passes through a filter cartridge.

  • Patent number: 8097060
Abstract: A filter includes a spacing member and a filter element having two layers laminated together with the spacing member such that the spacing member extends between the filter element layers. The spacing member spaces apart the filter element layers to define an opening between the filter element layers.

  • Publication number: 20100153023
Abstract: A method for determining a service life for a filter includes measuring exposure data and calculating a service life estimate based on the exposure data. The service life estimate is representative of an estimated exposure time that the filter is exposed to ambient conditions represented by the exposure data before the contaminant passes through the filter at a breakthrough concentration. The method also includes obtaining environmental data and establishing a predicted service life based on the environmental data. The predicted service life is representative of a predicted exposure time that the filter is exposed to the ambient conditions represented by the environmental data before the contaminant passes through the filter at the breakthrough concentration. The method further includes determining the service life for the filter based on a comparison of the estimated and predicted service lives.

  • Patent number: 7592178
Abstract: An apparatus and method for testing the integrity of a filter under humid conditions is provided. The apparatus includes an injection assembly which is located on a first side of the filter and a detection assembly which is spaced from the injection assembly and located on a second side of the filter. The injection assembly injects a mixture of an air stream and a hydrophilic test chemical vapor of a known concentration through the filter. The injection assembly includes a sealed vaporizer which generates the mixture of the air stream and the hydrophilic test chemical vapor. The vaporizer includes a contact bed having an inert packing media for vaporizing the hydrophilic test chemical. The detection assembly detects a concentration peak of the hydrophilic test chemical vapor exiting the filter. The detection assembly includes a chemical sampling member, a chemical enriching member and a chemical detector.

  • Patent number: 7537648
Abstract: A mechanical device is used to estimate a service life of an air filter exposed to a certain chemical at various concentrations, flow rates, and relative humidity conditions. The device includes two members, one of which has at least one window, connected so that their surfaces are movable relative to one another. One member has numerical values for chemical concentrations and service life estimates printed on it. The member having windows has at least one mark printed on it by which it can be oriented relative to the chemical concentration scale on the other member. When the two members are aligned relative to a chemical concentration of interest, the corresponding service life estimate is displayed in an appropriate window.

  • Patent number: 6851938
Abstract: A magnetic pumping system includes a pump, capable of urging a fluid therefrom during a forward stroke and a return stroke, having a piston disposed within a cylinder defined by a pump body, and a driver disposed external to the pump body. The driver is capable of moving the piston by a magnetic field interaction between the driver and the piston. The system further includes a check valve bridge, spaced away from the pump and in fluid communication with the cylinder, capable of allowing ingress and egress of the fluid into and out of the cylinder in response to a movement by the piston.
