  • Patent number: 11415615
Abstract: An airborne system and method for the characterization and measurement of radiating systems or antennas (5), including: an aerial module (1) including a unit for measuring electromagnetic emissions (11), which captures the electromagnetic field (E) radiated by the radiating system or antenna (5), and a positioning and guiding system (13) with an accuracy equal to or less than 3 cm; and a ground station (2) including a unit (23) for processing the electromagnetic emission measurements, which processes the measurements using a set of algorithms for processing electromagnetic emission measurements (25). Also, a method for measuring and characterizing radiating systems or antennas (5). The invention is suitable for use in sectors that require antennas to be characterized and measured, such as, for example, radar and radio navigation facilities, terrestrial- and satellite-based telecommunications systems, or terrestrial broadcasting facilities.

  • Patent number: 10895636
Abstract: Airborne systems and methods for the detection, location and obtaining of images of buried objects and for the characterization of the composition of the subsoil. The systems comprise at least one aerial module with a radar unit that emits and/or captures radar signals and a positioning and guidance system with an accuracy equal to or less than 3 cm, and a ground station with a flight control system and a radar signal processing unit where radar signal processing algorithms are applied. The invention also comprises a method for the detection, localization and obtaining of images of buried objects and a method for the characterization of the composition of the subsoil. Applicable in sectors where it is necessary to perform the detection of buried objects, as for example in civil applications (detection of antipersonnel mines), pipeline inspection or in archaeology.

  • Patent number: 10477785
Abstract: Proactively identifying and interdicting transport of commodities associated with illicit nuclear materials and nuclear weapons shielded by high Z-number materials, such as lead, can help ensure effective nuclear nonproliferation. In an embodiment, a method for imaging an object on a surface includes exciting a surface with ultrasonic excitation from an ultrasonic transmitter having an ultrasonic transducer in contact with the surface. The method further includes imaging, at a processor, a two-dimensional representation of the object acoustically coupled to the surface based on the ultrasonic reflections received at an ultrasonic receiver via a receiving transducer in contact with the surface. This method can complement existing x-ray screening systems to increase the odds of detecting radiological materials.
