  • Patent number: 11498692
Abstract: Grommet assembly and method for installing a grommet assembly in a penetration hole of a panel. In one embodiment, a grommet assembly is comprised of multiple parts, including end members having a diameter greater than the penetration hole, and a middle member having a diameter sized to fit within the penetration hole. Each of the members includes one or more conduit holes for a conduit that is routed through the penetration hole, and an installation slit disposed between an outer peripheral surface and a conduit hole.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 11, 2019
Date of Patent: November 15, 2022
    Assignee: The Boeing Company

  • Patent number: 7681923
Abstract: A fitting and an associated grommet are provided for supporting a conduit penetrating a panel and limiting energy transfer between the conduit and panel. The fitting may include a grommet having annular first and second sections spaced apart from one another and an annular wall extending between the first and second sections such that the wall and first and second sections define a bore. A plurality of ribs protrude from the annular wall, the ribs being distributed circumferentially around the annular wall and spanning between the first and second sections. A tubular liner extends through the bore of the grommet and contacts the first and second sections. The plurality of ribs extend into the bore, and at least some of the ribs contact the liner.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 17, 2006
Date of Patent: March 23, 2010
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Mark A. Negley, Rangasamy Elangovan, Yuri Tian, Eric H. Nelson, Paul S. Gregg, Michael A. Ross
