  • Patent number: 9010987
Abstract: A method of mixing together liquids or liquid/solid combinations, and mixing apparatus/universal combine utilizing a vertical spinning container or vessel having a rib, or a cross rib in its bottom wall. The container is spun about a vertical axis with no wobbling component to the motion. Meshed elements are used for high shear mixing. Start/stop routines, and variable acceleration/speed values are used, to facilitate complete mixing. Use of ‘impeller’ blade stirrers is completely eliminated.

  • Patent number: 8221300
Abstract: A centrifuge having two arcuate slots to receive resilient, bendable mounting flanges that each carry a plurality of test tubes in side by side relation. The resilience of the mounting flanges enables them to flex and assume either the curvature of the slot, or a linear configuration enabling the flanges to be suspended in a flat condition, such as on a test rack. The arrays of test tubes is attached to the flanges via living hinges that enable the flexing to occur. The advantages are that simplified identification of individual test tubes, as well as reduced likelihood of intermixing of spillage are realized.

  • Patent number: 7204637
Abstract: A device for mixing, homogenization, resuspension, disintegration, disruption, or centrifugation of media placed in test tubes, including: a rotor having a replaceable closure; a driver having a substantially vertical shaft; a sleeve having a spiral groove and a bush moveable along the sleeve, moving the rotor up and down; and a stationary ring with extended teeth faced toward the rotor. When the rotor is in its lower position the tubes engage the teeth and receive strikes which induce vigorous motion and effective mixing of media inside the tube. When the rotor is in its upper position the tubes are disengaged with the teeth and rotation of the rotor provides centrifugation of the media.
